gets really BALL-Y, but very warm/practical
THE GOOD: It's SO WARM & flattering & practical! THE BAD: Patagonia could have come up with a better material that doesnt get really super ball-y. Even before washing it, I gave it a good three - six wears before washing it, thinking it would preserve the lifespan. But even before washing it, after the first wear, it looked like i'd had it for a year and washed it with towels, and dried it on high heat. The truth is, it gets bally really fast, you would think I rubbed it all over a rough sidewalk or something. I thought, okay, maybe it NEEDS to be washed after 30 minutes of wearing it, so I washed it, FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS, and hanged it dry. That didn't get rid of the balls. Even using one of those sweater de-fuzzers didn't take off all the balls. Buy it in GREY, cuz maybe then you wont SEE the balls as much. black will show everything though. :( THE SIZING: I bought this sweater in Black, size S. if you sometimes fit into a small, sometimes medium, go with the small. I'm usually a medium, so it's on the smaller size

Comfortable & cozy, but hasn't held up well
I purchased this jacket after reading some mixed reviews, and while I'm happy to have it on my coat rack (great layering piece) I am disappointed with the quality. I have several other Patagonia pieces which I wear frequently, and they still look brand new. However, after wearing this jacket a couple of times, it started to show tremendous pilling all over (cuffs, under arms, along the side, and around front pockets). It's just not the quality I've come to expect from Patagonia, esp for the price. The arms are also a tad long (not uncommon for me), so I find myself tucking them under.

Go to sweater

I love this one. I originally had the Quarter Zip Better Sweater by Patagonia and I LOVED it. However, I prefer this one to the latter because of the full zip down ability and the pockets for your hands. The quarter zip does not have that. The little pocket on your arm is surprisingly great. I usually carry my iPhone 6s or my small wallet. It fits perfectly and it's convenient to have my hand pockets free for other things. I take this thing with me during day hikes, trips to the store and as a before sweater to climbing in cold weather. Overall, extremely warm and comfortable, goes with everything I have and it's from an extremely trusted brand. I am totally in love!

Soft and comfortable, I love it.

I received this jacket/sweater for Christmas from my son and I really love it. I'm 5 ft 5 in and weight 131 lbs. He got me the medium and it fits great. More on the fitted side but not to tight. Just flattering without being too snug. I got the birch white which is a tweedy light beige color. I love the pockets and the zip pocket on the sleeve

I love it!

I absolutely love this jacket! It's so soft and warm, but it doesn't make me feel overheated. I am 5'2 115 and I got the XS. I took one star off just because of the fit. It's a bit tight across my back and on my upper arms. But if I got the next size up, then the torso was just too big. I can still wear a thinner sweater under it but it's just a little tight. It may just be because I have broader shoulders so I tend to have this problem with other clothes. Just wanted to give a description of the fit! Despite the fit, I love it and will likely order more colors!

Fits great, fabric quality is terrible

I love the fit & warmth of this jacket, I'm very pleased with those aspects of this purchase. I had my previous Patagonia fleece for over 8 years and the quality was fantastic, I was expecting the same level of quality from this one. Within one month of purchasing this jacket, it has started pilling all over and looks awful. I haven't machine washed it or worn it for any strenuous activity. I'm so disappointed in this jacket, especially considering the amount I paid for it.

Great Quality but Poor Fit

I so wish this fit well because the better sweater is so warm, cozy, and the make is high quality. However, the fit is terrible. I am 5 foot 7 (really not that tall!) and the small is way too short, but the medium is very boxy and baggy at the stomach and waist and not flattering. Patagonia needs to rejigger the fit on this better sweater to make it more flattering through the torso. It looks great and I want love it, but alas it just doesn't look good on.

Functional and Flattering

After trying on multiple fleeces from different brands, I decided on this Patagonia fleece. The cut was flattering and I loved that it unzipped all the way. I am 5'2, long waisted, pretty flat chested, 125 lbs and the small worked great for me. Besides fitting well, it keeps me warm, fits over a long sleeve base layer and under a windproof jacket. It is quickly becoming my staple sweater!

warm and extremely well made

I've been wearing this pretty much non stop since I bought it and its the warmest sweater jacket I've owned. Wearing it with a synthetic down vest makes me about as warm as I'd be with my wool coat on. Love layering it all together to keep me warm! I work in a woodshop and hike outdoors quite often and there's absolutely no wear and tear even through all that. Still looks brand new! The price is obviously quite high but totally worth it. This is my first Patagonia product and will surely not be my last!

Cozy and Loved Despite Piling and Pet Hair Issues

The title pretty much says it all. Despite its issues, I love this jacket and wear it constantly. It retains cat hair more than any other item I own.The hair somehow gets embedded in the material's weave. I use a lint roller, but the hair is better removed when I take the sticky sheet off of the remover, and I often pick individual hairs out. Cat hair still remains after this but it's not that noticeable. It also has piling issues but these are easily removed with a fuzz remover. I would still buy this again and still wear it all of the time because it is extremely comfortable and warm!!!!!!!!!! I wear it every day!
