It's Gu...
Works well for some quick energy when find yourself on the NOBO hill @I-81 on the AT after an already looong day and need to lie to yourself and say "I love backpacking!" Of course everyone's tastes are different. I had never tried any of the berry flavors and for me they are a bit sweet. But hey, they digest rapidly with a little caffine for a quick boost. As my old friend Ester would say "What it is, what it is!" I think she meant "It is what it is", but I never had the heart to correct her. Maybe she did it on purpose...
Great snack, even when not training
I live on this stuff, even when not running long distances. It is a great snack if I need to dash out somewhere before breakfast. I live in deep snow country, and I keep a handful of these (along with granola bars) in the car for emergencies. On a long distance run, I put a few in my pocket and have one every few miles. Vanilla is my favorite, followed by Salted Caramel.
Use for training
At 60 I enjoy the boost. Taste good, and no problems with my stomach
Backcountry booster
Though remembering to take a small ziplock bag for trash, the GU was awesome for maintaining my energy as I climbed and descended the Colorado mountain sides. I used these as the anchor of my diet while continuing regular meals as time permitted.
Gel are great, shipping has problems
Gels are great (I have used them before). Twice I ordered the 24 pack, shipping sent me a single gel. Twice. Huge bag shows up, with a single gel in it. REI has credited me both times, but I had to go buy other stuff for my race. Very frustrating.
GU Great
I've used these in a 25K and half marathon as well as training. No stomach upset (another popular brand gel does bother me a little), even when I don't have enough water to properly wash them down.
Extra Energy when you really need it FAST.
When I fainted while cycling, I learned that hypoglycemia is no laughing matter. These GU gels seemed to be MSRP everywhere but by buying at REI I get dividend.
Tasty
These things taste great, and I feel like they help me with long runs. I've also used them during marathons and halfs. Good stuff!
Just what I needed
My spouse and I use this for before and during work outs as energy booster. It works well and this product came right on time.
Love the taste!
Love this product but it got messed up in shipping i think, because a few of the packs where leaking.
