Bits fall out easily
To echo what the other reviewer said, the bits are not magnetized and they fall out very easily. You are definitely going to lose the bits in the snow if you use this to adjust a binding. Look elsewhere.
great tool except the freaking bit doesn't stay in
Its not magnetized... why??? I like the tool but why would they not put a magnet in it to hold the bits, its a pain trying to find them in the snow in the back country...
Not a torque tool
Not a torque wrench. Doesn't have a fixed max or display torque
The Next King Arthur
Of course, you are familiar with the Legend of King Arthur in which a Sword is pulled from a Stone. I present to you, The Sequel! The lesser known story of a skier tasked with opening the top of this torque driver to get to the bits inside before she could even use it. Legend has it that she only opened it with a vice grip and a different torque wrench (neither of which are included in this product). Does that make her worthy to be king? By golly, I think so. I guess I should give this five stars since it doubles as a pre-season workout for climbing - grip strength level up. Oh my gosh, not to mention the absolute Tetris game of trying to fit the bits back into the top for storage. Who knew the next big thing in Brain Games was going to be brought to me by REI. BTW, the product works fine. The incredibly exciting portion of the adventure in which I only opened the tool has completely overshadowed actually using it to fix my skis.
Don't bother, get a bike tool instead
Skier here. Bits fall out CONSTANTLY, which makes them super easy to lose in snow. They rust very fast at the slightest hint of water. Also does not include a torx bit, which would be extraordinarily useful for the large number of people using Dynafit equipment. I suppose I could go buy my own at a hardware store - but why include 3 different cross-type bits and not a torx? Short length and wide handle make it a pain, if not impossible, to access any screw parallel to the ski, which is basically all of them that you might actually need to adjust on the hill (DIN, toe height, heel adjust). Probably fine for adjusting snowboard bindings, but the bits should still be held in better. You will probably lose them when you tighten a screw, let off pressure, and the bit falls onto your board and rolls into the snow.
works great
Really like how compact the tool is. I've used it several times without any issues. I do however wish thare was a magnet to help hold the bit in place but otthan that no complaints.
Not good.
I bought this about a month ago and it broke in about a week. Used it maybe 3 times just to tighten my snowboard bindings down and the torque mechanism on it broke - it no longer cranks. Gonna try to return.
great tool
Great tool, I don't notice in jacket pocket. Seems good quality and useful for tightening and stance adjustments.
