Features

  • Tread is tightly spaced for high speed, drag-free onslaughts, yet blocky and tall enough to really dig in when it comes time to slam on the brakes
  • A rounded profile and staggered, supported side knobs keep clamoring for traction even as the trail becomes smooth
  • Relatively tight tread spacing provides an excellent plane for riding harder surfaces, creating a smooth-rolling sensation
  • Siping on center blocks as well as corner blocks create more working edges, and as tires undergo braking and cornering additional bands of grip are exposed to enhance traction
  • The cornering side blocks are offset from each other to create consistency and a predictable feel when transitioning from outer tread to inner tread
  • A robust casing provides the strength needed for wire bead tires to last, and a high ratio of rubber to thread protects against trail threats and urban unpleasantries
  • Proprietary 60a durometer rubber compound offers the ideal mix of rolling efficiency and traction for cross-country and trail riding; plus, it's versatile and long lasting

Punches above its weight class

This is a great tire for a stock replacement and just an overall solid tire for anyone wanting to just go out have fun be aggressive and not have to worry about slipping so much. Seems to handle every terrain confidently and smoothly like butter. Tread grabs everything, very fast Tire good on hard ground solid in moderate sand, solid on dirt wet dirt loose gravel rear doesn't slip. If you're on a budget I think this is a great purchase. You can see it in the compound and when you feel the sidewall of the tire feels like a winner!

Great all around tires with grip!

This tire has been great on the different surfaces in Houston. Mainly ridden on trails in a swamp, the grip is great and gave me a boost in confidence. Mud, sand, hard pack, pine needles, it grips it all. Sloughs off mud well, had more on the bike than stuck on the tire. These are holding up well to my crash and burns as I redevelop my skill from taking decades off from riding. Old tires got punctures every week. Trail boss tires are holding up well to the weeds and thorns so far. Great upgrade from the stock tires that came on the bike.

Great for the money

I've got a Fuji Nevada 1.9 hardtail and wanted some thicker knobbier tires that wouldn't rub on my derailleur. These are great. I do cross country riding with some mild to moderate downhill and they grip everything like a champ. They were super easy to seat too. They are a little heavy but for this slow but steady rider it's a fair trade. Definitely a good fit for a mountain biker on a budget.

Great tire

had good luck with this tire, it took a beating even with some sidewall damage. it is a "heavy" tire for those who are weight conscious.

WTB Trail Boss MTB tire.

Bought this tire on the way to Moab. It gripped at Slickrock like a champ! It wanted to keep gripping and climbing when I couldn't! I will however put this tire on the front and get one a bit wider for the rear. I didn't realize I had purchased a 2.25 for the rear. Great tire!

Good tire

These were well prices and the tread is probably a 7 out of 10 for how aggressive the tread is.

Thin rubber

So these tires were installed standard in the cannondale trail 4 when I bought it and literally the first time I went out riding I got a small goats head that punctured and ruined the tire. Now I have to figure out for to replace it with a better one. Great

Nice tire but ...

Good ride and traction, but bead diameter is so small it was extremely difficult to mount on rim.

Works For Me

I read comments about this tire. So, I bought them. I don’t know how to do most of the “extreme stuff.” But for recreational mountain biking and the occasional festival, the WTB Trail Boss Comp does the job.
