Yeah it's a keeper
I have owned more trail mugs than I can count, good, great and horrible. That said, i'm really loving this one. It's tough, keeps my coffee hot, doesn't leak, the bendy handle is super cool and packs well because of it. It can get tossed around without remorse and yes I've tested that(one full mug + one hail Mary pass across a parking lot + pavement hit and the lid stayed on and it didn't break). I submit that you can ask for nothing more. Happy about this one.
The perfect backpacking mug
Great mug. Insulated so liquids and foods stay hot/cold and your hands don't burn. Also works as a bowl for eating (cereal, pasta, etc.) Handle for holding, attaching to backpack, hanging from trees, collapses. No sharp edges. Lightweight for size and durability. For less than $10 its a great value.
Love it
I bought two of these mugs for myself and by boyfriend. We've taken them on three trips so far, and they've been awesome. The lid stays on really well, and the insulation works great. We were out on really cold nights too, it went well below freezing during the night. The mugs managed to keep our drinks hot for a few hours at dinner time, long enough to enjoy our drinks at a leisurely pace. They are lightweight, durable, and a good price too. I'm very happy with them.
Best all-around thermal Mug Yet
I bought this mug several weeks ago and have used it for two week-long wilderness hikes over 10,000. In 40 years of backpacking, this is the best! It is very, very lightweight, keeping hot stuff hot. The snug lid allows no leakage and the rim doesn't burn lips when drinking hot drinks. The inside lexan cup is easily removable for measuring (I scratched a 1 and 2 cup mark on the outside then drew the line over them with a black permanent marker. It washes up nicely.
Overall it's not a bad mug...
Was purchased as a lightweight mug for day-hiking and backpacking use for a coffee addict. Pros: lightweight, lid fits securely but isn't impossible to get on and off, outer insulated sleeve slides off/on easily, size of the mug isn't too big around for my stubby fingers, volume it holds is perfect, relatively easy to clean plastic mug and lid (haven't washed sleeve) Cons: handle is too big/floppy to safely use as a true mug handle, you always have to slurp coffee off of the portion of the flip down lid that actually seats into the hole or it will drip on your nose when you tip the cup to drink, actual lip of mug could be a bit taller- I envision the edge of the neoprene sleeve getting gross in time Overall it's not a bad mug, it's just not perfect, 3 out of 5 stars in my opinion.
Great cup!
Last minute "luxury" purchase before taking off on a week long backpacking trip and it was totally worth it! Used it for hot tea and to rehydrate my food. Great insulation, light weight - will never ever go on a longer trip without it!
Great lightweight backpacking mug
This is a large, lightweight and well thought out cup. It has a minimalist design for a lidded mug, simple and robust. The neoprene type cover provides the insulation and grips tightly, yet slides off easily (like a jetboil insulating cover) for cleaning. I like the rubber seal around the lid and the fact that I can snap the vent and drinking port closed if I set the cup down. That keeps any attracted bugs from swimming in my tea, cocoa or coffee. (To respond to a below comment. The vent port will only drip interior liquids on your nose if you tip the cup higher than it needs to be for drinking. Any cup with a lid and a vent port will do that. That's an operator error ;-)) The strap handle functions well with variations of grip possible for different hand sizes. The handle, (strap) can't break when tightly packed away. I load my coffee items and a few Gu packs or similar inside to avoid unused space in the pack. I'm happy to have such a functional mug in high camp.
Nice Cup
Haven't used it yet, but it's a cup. What's to go wrong? It fits perfectly inside my GSI Outdoors stainless mug. Seams well-made.
Perfect Mug!
I have this mug and I use it every day in the car and backpacking. I put the cup and cover in the dishwasher and all comes out clean and ready to go so the sleeve doesn't get gunked up. its great for coffee and dinner. I love this cup!
Lightweight and easy
We bought two for a backpacking trip in the Sierras. They worked great! Very lightweight and keeps the coffee warm.
