Perfect for 6-day SUP River Exploration in Utah
The YETI 105 was the perfect solution for a six-day stand-up paddleboarding trip down the Green River in Utah. It kept my frozen provisions chilled, throughout 95-degree days with relentless sun. It held frozen meals for two people for six days. I used a large block of ice for the base, and then several bags of ice cubes on top of my food. On day two, I wrapped the cooler in a $3 survival reflector blanket, to help reflect the sun's energy. At the end of six days, I still had 25-33% ice intact.
YETI Tundra 105 is perfect for family outings.
I bought this a couple of weeks ago, I have not yet used it. However, I already know how awesome this YETI Tundra 105 is, and I like all the ways it can be used. It has it's own unique way of strapping it down, and you can still open the lid and get into the cooler. I also have a beverage holder for it too! It is made to with stand some serious treacherous encounters if any were to happen. I also have bear proof locks for mine too, for peace of mind. I am going to take mine to the Henry Doorly Zoo a few times a year, Fourth of July for sure, and take my Siberian Husky camping for the first time.
This cooler saved my marriage!
Me and a buddy had been fishing the Kansas rivers all summer long in hopes of landing a monster flathead. We had many successful trips to the river catching many fish in the 10-20 pound range but it was very frustrating when we would return to the jeep to put our catch on ice and about 50% of our ice had melted. Between the expense of all the ice and my wife going to bed alone every weekend and then having to wake up to a husband who stunk of fish and cold Busch Light, it's safe to say she was over me and fishing. Then late one night while searching the depths of social media to find a way to prove to my wife that I was still the man that she married...I found it!! The limited edition High Country Yeti Tundra! Now any sane man with my level of income would have went with the Tundra 45 but I didn't have time for rational decisions. I knew I had to show her I was still her Meat Man so I pulled the trigger on the Tundra 105. From the time I ordered the Tundra 105 it was on my doorstep within 48 hours. When I opened the box my expectations were completely blown out of the water once I saw first hand the quality and craftsmanship of this cooler. Now my wife on the other hand....I could see she had her doubts as she commented "I like the color of it" rolled her eyes and left the room. Now I knew that I didn't have time to justify my purchase to her, I had to get to the river and prove to her that I was still her Meat Man! We'd been on the river for about 5 hours with only a 7lb flathead on the stringer to show for it. Just when I was starting to question what I was doing out here on the river when I should be at home trying to salvage what was left of my marriage. It was then an all too familiar sound broke the silence of that calm Kansas summer night. That sound was the bait clicker on an Ambassadeur C3 7000 Catfish Special! Once the hook was set and we saw beautiful arch in that St.Croix Mojo Cat rod we knew we had a hawg on. Once we had our hands on him there wasn't a word spoken as we realized our dreams had become reality. We gathered our gear and our catch and walked out of the river bottoms that night with our chins held high. Once we got our gear in the jeep and our catch loaded in the 105 Tundra we headed back to town reminiscing on the events that took place that night. When we got back to my house and got everything unloaded I heard the familiar sound of my wife opening the garage door to tell us "thanks for waking me up! I had just fallen asleep." Before she could make her famous speech something caught her eye. That something was a monster Kansas flathead laid up on the new High Country 105 Tundra. I saw a slight buckle in her knees as she gave me the same look she gave me on our senior prom night back in 2006. Next thing I remember I was waking up to my favorite breakfast being brought to me while i still laid in bed trying to make sense of the night before. I humbly told her that she didn't have to do this for me but she insisted, gave me a kiss and told me that she'd do anything for her Meat Man. I got out of bed that morning walking a little taller and smiling a little brighter and none of that would have been possible without my High Country 105 Tundra!
Huge!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had other Yeti coolers and know they work great. This 105 is of course large and heavy so I don't plan to take it out of the truck during my trip. It will hold lots of beer of course! There is a lot said about actual capacity in these type of coolers. Yeti says it will hold 67 cans of beer. I say 80 is a much more usable number. In my picture you can see 20 fit on each side of the divider perfectly! Stack them 2 high of both sides and you get 80 and still lots of room for ice. You could actually stack them 3 high but then there would be little room for ice. With cans stacked 2 high the basket fits on top and leaves about 2-3 inches for ice. Later in the trip the divider will make it easy to move all cans to one side and leave room for the scallops on the other side. Cant wait.
Where I go my Yeti follows!
This is an incredible life accessory. I have had this for the past year and 90% of the time it has lived locked in the bed of my pick-up filled with ice. It's my portable fridge. I've used it non-stop for everything I can think of beer, deer, ducks, quail, pheasant, turkey, fish, oysters, clams, crabs and just keeping groceries cold while my old lady takes eons to complete the errands. The only negative thing is that I now feel the need to own one a little smaller. Only because I know how awesome it would be. The rest of y'all can keep the cheap coolers because I'm not interested in them anymore.
The Yeti lifestyle
I was shocked when I got the 105 for Christmas. I had been eyeing these for months and my family took notice. I've only used it a few times so far and mostly for tailgating. However, I expect it will get some good use this Fall at many Penn St. games. Thanks Yeti for making a great product! Already looking at buying the 45 for some summer beach trips and a Roadie for my fishing kayak.
Perfect size
Brought the 105 on a canoeing trip down the Allegheny river in PA. The 105 fit perfectly in our canoe so I could easily reach for an icy adult beverage. It was a hot sunny day and the cooler was exposed to the sun for almost the entire day. The top of the cooler was hot to the touch. Kept about 55 cans cold all weekend.
Keeps ice real cold-like for a really long time.
Beers were kept awesomely cold for the entirety of our trip and beyond...had the last few out of the Yeti once returning home following our outdoor adventure.
It's perfect! Love the height from the 105.
Small footprint with big space. Also great to have the height with the basket inside. Bought the divider as well and made my own wheels. Fantastic cooler.
