This simple, light, minimalist down sweater vest practically floats away. Its 800-fill-power down traps heat in alpine conditions, yet it's so compact that it stuffs into an internal pocket.

Love this vest. I bought it along with a Nano, but liked it better because it kept me warmer. Similar weight. And, the gray is a tad darker and cooler. The feathers started to ooze out, and REI explained how to take care of it. The only bummer is the fabric is so light, that it tears easily. I already have a tiny tear after 4 months. There is a clear patch kit, but tear is in front. I wash carefully, and hang it dry. I have debated returning it due to the light fabric, but honestly have not found one I like better. True to size. I am a slender 5'8", and ordered a medium. Fits great! Only 4 due to the "sensitive" fabric.
Purchased this vest in a medium as I wear a size 6-8. I wear it around the house, shopping, walking, hiking, and even cross country skiing. Love the vest except for the plastic, oversized zipper teeth on the pockets. They snag everything from terrycloth loops to top stitching on my under layers. My other jackets and vests have hidden zippers on the pockets. I would have given the vest 5 stars instead of 3 if it had better pocket zippers.
I first bought an Arteryx womens vest because it was on sale and I knew their products were great. However, I tried it on and hated it. So, I bought this vest in Navy and Large. I have the down sweater jacket also in a Large and they fit similarly. However, I noticed the vest in the same size is tighter around my rear than the coat version is. Thats my only complaint! Its warm (totally windproof), the zipper is very quality, and the color is great (turquoise zipper is so cute!) Love it! Would buy again! If you have the down jacket you'll love the vest too!
I have had (and enjoyed) a Patagonia nanopuff jacket for years and was on the fence whether the down vest would be worth the investment or really be that different in terms of utility... IT 100% IS. This is now my go-to in so many different weather situations, it kept me warm as an extra layer when temps were in the single digits, then in the shoulder seasons it's been the perfect layering piece for long hikes with variable weather at different altitudes when a jacket is too much but a long sleeve is too little. I am SOLD and will be adding the down sweater jacket to my wardrobe next winter.
It seems as though some of the other reviewers didn't like the fit. It is definitely a more slender fit than the nano vest. I also have the nano puff vest and even though this and the nano puff are the same size, the nano puff fits almost a size bigger. This vest is light, almost weightless and I think its slenderizing. I bought the small, I'm 5'3" usually a size 4. I bought the Sumac Red because it was on sale, and I love the color.
This has become my office sweater. My office is freezing, but working in my blazer makes me feel as if I am in a straight jacket. It's nice to be able to take my jacket off, slip this on, and be comfortable. I chose this over the nano puff vest because this felt more "tailored." The white vest made me feel like the doughboy, so went back to the basic black.
Love this vest! Practical, warm, and stylish.. what's not to love! I basically lived out of it last winter/spring, and it remained fluffy and cozy throughout. One odd thing is that one of the back seams ripped while I was out in rural UT - just while putting it on, not with any extra force or sharp objects around. I was able to use a pin to help minimize any down from falling out, but still.. unexpected. Luckily REI allowed me to exchange it, and the employee who helped me said he'd never heard of that issue before, so I'm back to happily loving this vest :)
I am normally a size small or medium in everything (or size 6 in pants). I do not have a big chest. I had to get this in a LARGE. Even with the large, it is tight at my hips when I zip it up. There is literally no way I could have gotten my true size medium, so I’m glad I read other comments first before buying. Definitely size up at least one size! It is an awesome vest that keeps you warm but it is lightweight at the same time!
I have always loved the down sweater until they switched to this latest version (longer length, no soft lining around the color and in the pockets and, the biggest issue, the large tooth zippers). I wish Patagonia would not only switch back to their last version but they would replace the sweaters this coat has ruined. I returned this vest and bought another brand.
This was a Christmas gift for my wife. She wanted a down vest. I looked at several and they all looked the same until I started looking really closely. This is four times as much as the other brands and, really, four times better made. With down, if you aren’t really picky, the quilt, cost, vest, etc. simply won’t last.
