Lightweight, nice fit, good wind protection

I really like this jacket. Its lightweight makes it easy to wear and pack for travel. The cuffs are made of a knit material and fit snugly on the wrist to keep you warm and the zippered pockets are nice to have. The fit is trim and tapered at the waist. I initially ordered a Medium as that's my normal size, and the jacket fit just right but didn't allow for a sweater or vest to be worn underneath. I exchanged it for a Large and that works just right. The hood is great too and it doesn't fall over my eyes like the hoods on most coats. Even on sale this coat is expensive and more than I generally spend on a jacket, but I think the quality and design are worth the extra cost.

Love the Jacket, but...

I had on a sports bra, moisture wicking top, a tee and this jacket and it made very little difference in the summer light rain...I was still cold. Love the jacket but not as warm as most described. For me this is more of a " It's a bit chili, let me put a jacket on," jacket. I think it's too costly for not much warmth.

Warm and Light

This hoody can be worn for a wide range of days. I live in the Northeast of U.S. and it's good to wear it from later fall to winter even when the temperature is a few degrees below 0 Celsius (with a warm fleece inside or a light wool sweater). The surface is water resistant and perfect for light rains or snowy days. It's also super easy to maintain, i.e., machine washable and super fast to dry (as it's not a down jacket). It is easy to roll and pack into its hood. Overall, I am highly satisfied with my purchase. Looking forward to wearing it to a real adventure!

One of my favorites!

I love jackets. In fact, I might have a small obsession with buying them. I saw this jacket on vacation, tried it on, and thought "oh no, not again". As soon as I had it on I knew that I had to buy it. I bought it in August and had to wait quite a while to wear it. I have worn it on cold days, cool days, and warm mornings and it has been the perfect jacket for every occasion. It does not keep you as warm if you are sitting still, but if you are hiking or walking, this is the jacket to bring along. For reference, I am 5'5" and around 130 lbs and a medium fits well. It is a little short in the front of the torso, but otherwise fits quite well.

very warm and light weight

I got this on close out, so really the 2014 version. I wanted something that I could ride my bike in on cold days without wearing a thousand layers. With a few 15 degree or so rides under my belt, it's been great- just a mid layer and I'm off. I was concerned about wind cutting through the fabric because the jacket itself is so light and the side panels are essentially fleece, however, its not the case. I have not experienced rain or snow yet but will be excited to see how it holds up. This jacked is very comfortable (like wearing a sleeping bag) and does not restrict any movement.

Love this Jacket

I love this Jacket! I'm not the kind of person that spends a lot on clothes in general, but because I was going to Iceland in October, Idid some research, I got this one. And haven't regretted it. Kept me warm under my rain shell when it was extremely windy and rainy. I wore the jacket alone most of my time there. Super comfortable, packs light into the hood (used it as a pillow on the plane and car rides). The only negative thing I can think off (i'm wondering because of wear+tear) is that the zipper has been slipping down from my collarbone to my breast bone while I walk and have my back-pack on. Overall, LOVE this jacket. Wore it all through "winter" in Vancouver, and now into spring. And will be taking it to my trip to Switzerland, France and Italy trip in May. (The colour I bought: Black Saphire).

Love the jacket, just not as warm for me

I have to agree with a couple of the other reviewers. I spoke to a lot of people and read many reviews about this jacket but it really is not warm enough for me. It is in the mid 50's and quite windy. I have on a thin baselayer and an Icebreaker t-shirt and I was freezing. Love the lightness of the jacket and it can be quite warm (maybe even too warm) when worn inside and when worn outside on nicer days, but it just wasn't warm enough for those of us who tend to get cold easily when the weather turns. I was hoping to wear this on top of two baselayers and under a down parka for a winter hike at Mount Washington next month (severe weather conditions expected) but I may have to rethink this.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Let me start with I LOVE ARCTERYX. I have more items than I can count. This is my second Atom hoodie my first was stolen after 1 year. I loved my first Atom so much I went out and bought a replacement right away. I have had it for 2 weeks and to my dismay the back is destroyed. The fabric has worn through to the point where it's almost see through. I haven't even had a chance to actually use it so this damage occurred from wearing into town. I'm so disappointed.

LOVE THIS JACKET!

This jacket is amazing. I use it rock climbing, skiing, backpacking, hiking, and to go out in town. It fits really well, is VERY warm if I wear a fleece under it, but breathable for a fall hike with a t-shirt. The material is soft and packs very small and lightly. The hood is nice and large and actually covers my whole head. I'm 5'6" and 125lbs and ordered the small.. it's perfect. I love this jacket and highly recommend it.

Best Jacket Ever!

I have had this jacket for a few years now and have put it through the wringer! It's an all around jacket. Good for hiking, wearing around while running errands, spring days on the mountain. If it's windy it does well under a shell. On drizzly days it stays warm even when wet. It isn't super bulky and stuffs down pretty small. I don't usually write reviews but this jacket is so versatile and worth every penny!

Superjacket

The best insulating jacket ever. I hope it is available always, or if not I have to buy few right away:D Jackets shape is great and it won´t get dirty very easy. If it rains you don´t get wet very easy. It is also breathable. Only minus is that fleece inside the jacket might get pilled, that is the only thing I would change if I were manufacturer. My jacket is 10 months old, very good shape still.
