Fantastic great-grip shoes for outdoors
Our son loves climbing rocks and other things in the playground. We used to buy shoes from Walmart but we realised they were horrible in terms of grip and how long they last. We invested in these sneakers and my son loves them. The grip gives him confidence to go play. As someone else mentioned, mulch/sand and such do get into the shoes, but are very easy to get rid of! These are going to be my go to sneakers for my son from now on!
The absolute best shoe, ever!
My three kids, ages 2,7, and 10 each have a pair of Keens. I have a pair, too. We are all on our second pair, except for the baby, and that is only because I couldn't find a pair small enough for her last year. These shoes are easy for my kids to slip on and off, they can go in the water, and they are supportive enough for light hiking. I love that their toes are protected. We all wear the shoes all summer, and in the spring and fall with socks. Because they run a little wide, we can wear thick socks, too, but if not wearing socks just tighten the laces. My kids like that their feet stay cool because air gets around their feet. Wood chips get inside at the playground, but that is a small price to pay for every other great quality.
Comfy, all-purpose water shoes
We buy these same shoes every summer for my son. He loves them! Wears them everyday... from playing in our yard to errands around town to the pool. He also loves Keen sneakers for school. One drawback for the sandals is that mulch can get in, though easy on/off lets him fix the problem by himself. Go for it!
KEENS ARE THE BEST IF YOU HAVE BOYS!!
I discovered Keens when my third child was just two. I was absolutely amazed at how well those shoes hold up, so I have been buying them every summer for each of my children. I have one son who is wearing his brothers Keens because they never wear out, they just get passed down to the next person until the Velcro literally gives out. I would recommend these to anyone! My husband wears them, I wear them, and each of my four children wear them. They just don't wear out!
Great sandal for kids on the go!
This is our second pair of Keen sandals so I knew what I was getting already. We do a lot biking to and from the swimming pool, so I was looking for a sandal that would be great for biking as well. This one fits the bill. I don't have to worry that my son is going to scuff his toes while on his bike. Well made and durable. The only downside is they are a little hard to get on at first, but once they've been broken in, they slip right on.
Rough & Tough
Keens are the only shoes/sandals that our son cannot destroy in less than a month. These things are consistent with Keen's quality standards. We will, without a doubt, continue to purchase Keen's for him in the future
Not As Good As They Used to Be
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Kids Newport Sandal used to be the go-to sandal I bought for my child every summer for years because they looked good and were perfect for summer activities like going to camp, amusement parks, outdoor walks, or even the pool or beach. Basically they were great for everyday wear and were easy to wash. I used to recommend them to everyone I knew for this reason. Well, things have drastically changed. The quality of the Kids Newport Sandal has really gone down over the past year or so. Last summer, the sandal wore down quickly, in particular the heel and the fraying fabric. This year I decided to try again since it could have just been that particular style/color. I bought a pair for my child for the summer, and they ran a bit smaller than usual. No biggie. I simply returned them and got a bigger size. However, less than a month in, the stretchy pull strap broke. I reached out to customer service, and they just recommended I buy laces and sent me a link to one pair on their site, as well as two pairs from Amazon. These laces are for common sneakers or boots that you thread through. So, their suggestion isn’t very helpful. Needless to say, unfortunately, this is the last year I’m buying these sandals or any other child’s shoe from Keen. They just aren’t worth the expensive cost anymore. I will be looking into other durable, quality sandals from other brands.
Best sandal ever
My son loves these! Not only are they comfortable but they have traction, adjustable straps, and they protect his toes. Couldn't ask for a better sandal for the summer!
Great kids sandal!
We needed a good all purpose shoe/sandal for my son this summer. I found this sandal and he loved the way it felt. It's been three weeks now and our son likes this shoe more than even his sneakers. We went to an indoor climbing facility this past weekend and he was able to climb without losing his footing.
Love It
My 3 year old son loves these shoes. He wore them for the first time on a 3 mile hike at Mt. Lassen with no complaints. They run true to size and are nice and wide for his boxy feet. Will definitely buy another pair once he outgrows these.
