Sunday Afternoons  Charter Hat

I actually expect quite a lot from a hiking hat and this one meets every requirement. Here is what this has going for it: - Looks good - Comfortable - The brim is wide enough to keep much of the sun off your face, but not so large as to interfere with a backpack that rides high - I love the gimmicks: place to put sunglasses, pocket inside, vent at top My only complaint is that it only comes in medium and large. I'm 6' 3" and over 200 pounds (not a small guy) but still wear a medium with the adjustable strap tightened considerably. (It should be noted that I have almost no hair on my head.) Getting the right hat has taken me some time--lots of missteps. I'm so pleased to have found this one.

I'm only giving this hat five stars because I can't give it seven. I just worked all day in my yard in 100 degree heat, and not a single drop of sweat rolled down my face. The hat kept my face shaded and kept my head cool. I've had a whole series of hats for hiking and gardening, and this one beats them all, hands down. The material is lightweight but the brim is stiff, so it doesn't sag when it gets wet, and I 'm sure it would hold up in a stiff breeze.

Purchasing hats is always difficult for me as I am in between sizes which is why I love the adjustable fit of this hat. I also really liked the extra features such as the internal pocket and the sunglasses lock. Despite hours standing in the rain, the brim did not lose its shape and did well repelling water. I received several compliments on the hat the first weekend I wore it at an outdoor music festival where it did a wonderful job protecting me from the sun and the rain.

... I wish it was lighter. Maybe extend the mesh portion lower or less structure in the crown. However, it seems to be lighter than the competitor's hat...at a lower price. I use it for golf and it does a great job covering my face. Despite my gripe I'm very happy with this hat.

So happy I chose this hat. Saw it on the way to checkout to purchase another option. Tried it on and loved the features. It's been great on day hikes so far. Looks good, vents well, holds up in wind. A great hat so far.

I bought this charter hat about 3 weeks ago for a trip to Alaska and really love it. The hat is lite, has a great fit and holds its shape well. It also has a feature for storage inside the hat. Lastly, there are slots in the hat that hold your sunglasses. I will buy this hat again when this one wears out.

I bought this hat online, but ended up exchanging it at a store. I ordered base on recommended size, but it was really too large. There is an adjustable sizing strap, but I returned it for a much better fit. I've not yet used the sunglasses holder, but might in the future. There is also a hidden pocket. The color seemed a bit closer to khaki than to sand. With the strap, it's well secured in windy conditions. Overall, it looks to be a well made hat and should work well for me.

Bought this for a Grand Canyon raft trip. Many really nice features, like the dark underside of the brim to reduce glare and good build quality. My only disappointment with it is that due to packing and getting wet on the river, the brim got a little wavy in places and I find it hard to reshape it to the original sharp look, as pictured.

This hat worked very well to prevent sunburn and did not blow off even when I was facing the wind on a boat although I did put my hand on my head to be sure.

I thought I had found the perfect hat with perfect features - it's light, holds my sunglasses, is vented, floats on water, has a wide brim, the secret compartment and travels well. However, even the smallest available size (medium) fit lose on me. I adjusted the back strap as tight as I could without feeling that someone was pushing hard on the back of my head (happens when you tighten it too much). Long story short: my hat flew off and is now lying at the bottom of the Exit glacier in Seward, Alaska. Not only did I lose an expensive hat but now I have ruined nature! Not sure if I have it in my budget to buy another one of these :( My advice: buy it only if it fits well on you.
