Love love love these boots!! Got these specifically for my week trip hiking the 3 National Parks in Washington. I hiked for 2 days during rainfall in Mt. Rainier and Olympic and my feet stayed dried. Walking uneven and wet surfaces I had support and no slippage. I would definitely buy these again if I had to! I do already have 2 other pair of hiking boots made by Oboz and are staying with this brand most importantly for the support I get for my plantar fasciitis. I don’t need to use a customized insert inside the boots. Keep up the great work Oboz
They’re very comfortable and require almost no break-in period. This is the second time I’ve gone with Oboz boots, because they’re so comfy right out if the box. They also have good traction and are waterproof. HOWEVER, and I don’t know if this was just a defective pair or what, they started breaking down after less than 100 km walked (around 50 miles), and the sole started to peel off the back and front of the shoe, as well as bits of the sole falling off. This happened two weeks into a month long trip where they were my only shoes (besides shower flip flops). I was not hiking long distances, the longest was around 7 miles, and was never doing any “extreme” hiking. Ended up having to buy a new pair of shoes in Europe, and pay around $50 to have these ones shipped back to the US to return them to REI so I can at least get some of my money back.
I love these boots! I used them hiking in the black hills, SD. I will definitely be using those often.
I have had much trouble finding a boot for my feet. I have an average foot with a small bunion which wasnt a problem until I moved to Hells Canyon and my hikes are on less established trails with more side-hill walking. Keens, Merrell, Salomon had all been my friends for hiking (Keens took me on the CDT) but they weren't working any longer, my feet, especially the right foot, were getting beat up. I tried Oboz and was quite pleased with how they held my narrowish heel and allowed my wider forefoot room to live. I wasnt crazy about the color but figured correctly that one trip would dull the red. I was going to be an Oboz convert. Until I misjudged a leap across a creek and landed solidly in the water. Not the first time to have to walk in wet boots and walk them dry. But my foot starting hurting a couple hours later and in camp I realized my right boot upper had shrunk! Weird but it should stretch out. The next morning I squeezed my foot into the boot, it was definitely smaller by a size at least, and matched on. The boot didn't stretch and my forefoot was in a vise for the rest of the trip. I've tried everything to stretch it out but to no avail. I live rural and it is over 200 miles, 4.5 hours, to the nearest REI. These were purchased in mid-2020. Driving to the store for just a boot exchange is definitely not worthwhile and with the return policy, I didn't get to a store within the timeframe. I ended up using trail runners with snow gaiters for footwear and I keep an eye out for a hiker with a right foot 1 size smaller than her left so I can give these boots to her.
I have arthritis in my right foot, I have fat pad atrophy and I often suffer from plantar fasciitis. Many days it just hurts to walk. So when I say these are great boots take my word for it. For the first time in 2 years I am back to hiking every day. These boots have all the right support in all the right places. They have great grip so I don’t skid or slip on dirt or gravel. They support my ankle so I don’t twist it. I’ve walked in wet weather and my feet have stayed dry. I have been trying to hike at least 3 miles every day. I also use them to just walk. Super comfortable the whole day. BEST HIKING BOOT EVER!!
Bought these last summer and hiked all over Montana comfortably. Very comfortable, great traction and water-proof. What made me a real believer in these boots was my recent backpack trip to Patagonia. After 7 days of hiking in rain, snow, boulder scrabbling, river hiking, and ice hiking I'm really impressed. They really performed! Waterproof for the whole week and comfortable. I saw a lot of people with high end boots that had cracked or basically fell apart during this hike. I fact I provided the duct tape to get them through the rest of the trip. However, my Oboz held up just find. Nice to have a product that does what it is suppose to do.
These are the Best. Tread good for one year or 2000miles on rocky surfaces. Cushion and hug ankle securely, Plenty of height for boxy toe room. Consider a size larger. Manufacturer recommends ski wax but not needed, it tends to turn the red pink. This is my forth pair and I do hope they become available soon. The really cool Montana Topo Map on the sole will imprint in soft surface, just in case you get lost, but keep your GPS handy. These are sturdy, reliable support, also cholla proof. I tried to substitute Sapphire when these are not available but they let my ankle turn something the Bridger will not allow.
I have tried nearly all of the boots in REI's inventory (thank you for your wonderful return policy). I have broken both my feet, and I have plantar fasciitis. To make me a harder fit, I have narrow heels and wide toes, and these are the answer. They are stiff-soled so they help me walk more efficiently. The grip of the soles in amazing. When I first tried them, I felt like the heel was set a little forward, but once I had worn them a bit, that created a terrific rolling stride while hiking. I wish that I had found these before I tried the Lowa, Asolo, Merrell, Keen, not to mention several others. Now I want you to carry ALL of the Oboz shoes. Oh, and I wish that Oboz would make shoes for work too.
Love these Bridgers. Had the old red pair for 3 years and figured I needed updating. Went with these grey ones and love them the same.
I finally had to give up my old 24 year old Montrails. I have a narrow, low profile foot and am a size 8 women's. I just finished a backpacking trip with my 15 year old daughter in the Sawtooths in Idaho. I LOVE THESE BOOTS. When I tried them on, they fit like a cloud. Plenty of cushion and support without pinch spots. I have a nagging left achilles issue and the boots did not touch or injure it at all! I was so happy with these boots. No hot spots or blister issues. Thank you for the knowledge of the shoe person in REI Boise not only for the recommendation, but the customer service. I would say the boots fit true, but if you have a wider or a half size foot, you will need to size up.
