Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent value Purchased for road cycling. As I often leave early and also have a few quite shady routes, the photochromatic lenses are appreciated. No need to swap lenses. The lenses do not get overly dark, but seem to darken just enough to see comfortably in bright sun. They fit my fairly large face well. They are advertised as being adjustable fit, but there are not instructions on adjustment. I have only had to make slight "tweaks" to the fit by gently bending the temples. They are very light, comfortable, and stay on, even when perspiring. They seem to be a very good value.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for night riding, but often fog up I bought these for my bike commute both at night and during the day in winter since otherwise my eyes will tear up in the winter wind and I can't see very well. To that end they work very well during both night and day. However, they do tend to fog up if I wear a balaclava over my face, which defeats the purpose of wearing the glasses to block cold wind since either way I can't see well. They are vented at the corners to avoid this issue, but apparently they need more venting than that if you're wearing a facemask. When I don't fully cover my mouth with the balaclava, though, I have no fogging issues.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great pair of riding glasses A buddy of mine had a similar pair sunglasses with photochromic lenses. I never ride without eye protection and here in AZ we have to do everything we can to stay out of the heat of summer. This often requires riding outside the normal daylight hours. Obviously, this generates a problem with normal eye protection which is typically a pair of dark of sunglasses. I saw a sale on another website for these glasses with the photochromic lenses and thought, "that's what I need" but know from past experience to never buy a pair of sunglasses without trying them on. Did a quick search of the REI site and they showed up and were in stock at the REI closest to me. Went down, tried 'em on, bought 'em, and now wear them for every ride. They are both good looking and comfortable. At their lightest they are virtually transparent which works perfectly for early morning or after dark rides. In the full sun they don't look terribly dark in comparison to most sunglasses but they eliminate more than enough light so that I'm never squinting at the trail. I've worn them with a half-shell and full-face helmets and are equally comfortable under either lid. My only complaint is one that is common to just about every other pair of sunglasses or goggles known to man. They fog up relatively easily. They have a little "vent" near the hinge which I suspect is supposed to help with this but it does nothing towards that end. Maybe they are designed for roadies that average higher speeds and thus more air circulation? Unfortunately, us MTBers have to work a little harder than roadies do...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good fit, they stick They fit well, and the rubberized parts keep the glasses from sliding off my nose. I hardly spend any time pushing them back into position. The brow could be a little higher though. Leaning over on a road bike, I have to lift my head just a little higher to see under the brow sometimes. The photochromic lenses are great. No need to switch lenses because of changing lighting.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cool looking! Attractive glasses but don't expect them to get dark enough for really bright sun. Plus as stated elsewhere they fog up if you're really breathing heavily but this is also partly due they fit so well and close to the face and that's not bad.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for my early morning windy runs. I needed these glasses for running in the dark. My eyes are sensitive to wind and using my regular bike glasses with their tinted lens didn't work real well. I regret I didn't buy them a long time ago.

Do they scratch easily?  Are the coated to prevent scratches?

Asked by: Ancely
The Fototec lenses that come with the Veloce sunglasses are made from a scratch resistant polycarbonate.
