Consistently Great Shoe
I own several pairs of the Mayaris and just ordered another using my 20% coupon. (Love that REI let's you use the coupon on all brands). The Mayari works well for my feet and over time has become my favorite style of Birkenstock. It is a bit narrower than the Florida or Arizona and the toe loop keeps my foot secure, which makes them better for walking, but doesn't rub between the toes like the Gizeh. And of course Birks are always great for my fairly high arch. I wear a 6 or 6.5 in most shoes and take a 36. Want to point out that REI isn't posting incorrect sizing (as a recent reviewer said). That's Birkenstock's sizing. Unlike most shoes in Euro sizing that equate a 36=6, 37=7, etc., birkenstock doesn't and I think it's just wrong. Their 37 is NOT a standard 6, it's a 7. My only complaint though. Always great shoes otherwise!

Cracked Cork
Love the look and the feel of these shoes. I wear them daily and they look good with just about everything I wear. Today however I noticed that the cork base is cracked all the way through where my foot flexes. This is a huge bummer as I have only had them 3 months. Sad that even Birkenstocks have quality issues these days.

These sandals will break your heart!

Like all Birks, life with these sandals started off dreamy. They’re comfortable right out of the box. I went with a size 38 and I typically wear 8-1/2 in most shoes. Perfect fit! Over time though, the cork starts to crack on sides where the short strap over your big toe runs across the cork. This is true for the mocha and black pairs I have. But today, the strap over the big toe completely broke while in the grocery store. Purchased in October of 2020 and I live in the PNW so they only get summer use (June-Aug)—these shoes should last longer. If I were you, I’d buy the Arizonas instead. Sadly, the Mayari’s will break your heart!

Super comfy, supportive and classy sandal

This is the first pair of Birkenstock sandals I've owned. My mom always wore them as her work shoes as a RN working 12hr shifts. And she has narrow feet and a high arch. I however, have slightly wide feet and on the lower end of "standard/most common." I've only owned them for less than two weeks, but I've worn them every single day, they are so comfortable. For sizing reference: Feet- slightly wide w/regular arch, 2nd toe slightly longer than big toe, almost always 8.5, 39/39.5 Size I purchased- 39 (with buckles latched not on the tightest hole, but the next one looser). I was thisclose to fitting a 38, but couldn't because my 2nd toe didn't fit within the footbed perimeter. The 39 fits great.

Possibly a defective shoe...but comfy.

I love birks and was super excited for these. When I received the shoes, the glue (?) that goes all over the cork was already peeling back from the rim of the shoe. I hadn't purchased birks in 20 years so I thought it was how they sometimes looked. Plus I was super excited to wear them. Within a week one side of the cork had started cracking and now less than three months later both shoes have cracks next to the straps on both sides. In contrast, my daughter's pearl white birks that I purchased still look perfect and she wears hers everyday. They are super comfortable but seem like they aren't as well made as my daughter's.

Saved my feet!

I purchased these shoes a year ago when my feet were hurting worse than ever before. I couldn't go a day without pain and I was finding myself rolling out my feet under my desk at work because it was becoming unbearable. I wore these Mayari sandals every day until it was too cold and they were the best things for my feet. They didn't take as long to break in as others had said, I never pain or discomfort while wearing them. There were times when I felt like they got a little funky after long summer weekends but they cleaned up really easily following different instructions online. I plan to purchase many more pairs of Birkenstock's over the years.

Birkenstocks are no longer great quality.

In the past, In the past, I've always loved Birkenstocks. I decided to invest in a new style. These only lasted 4 month before they started falling apart. I didn't wear them rough, just your regular daily wear. I wouldn't waste your money. I can probably pay to get these repaired, but don't feel like I should have to be repairing shoes 4 months after purchase. I have Target sandals that have lasted longer.

My favorite sandals!

These sandals are my go-to for just about everything, from walking on sidewalks or groomed trails. They take quite a bit to break in- for me, it was about a month of full time wear before they didn’t hurt. Since then, I’ve worn these babies for 5-7 mile walks with great. They fit my feet like a glove and I think they’re super cute. I just bought my second pair. My feet are slightly wide and these fit me perfectly. I wear a size 9 in Brooks, Asics and Nike running shoes, 8.5 in converse, vans, and the 39 fit he perfectly. Absolutely 100% recommend.

Disposable $100 birks

Similar to several other reviewers experience, I loved these sandals until the toe loop completely came loose from sole. My pair were about a year and half old and I expected a pair of Birkenstock to last longer than this for the price point. Neither REI nor Birkenstock would stand behind the sandals past 12 months, so they don’t expect them to last either. Very disappointing.

9 months so far.

I bought these shoes last year in the middle of summer and they are my go to sandals. They took a few weeks to break in. I wear them a few times a week to school and shopping and they have definitely lasted longer than any other sandal I have ever owned. I thought they were going to be dead after walking in them for three weeks during a monsoon while backpacking SE Asia. But I found that the rain really didn't do much to them and they still look good! I'm about to buy a second pair!
