These are great pants for cool/cold weather when it might rain a bit. I kind of regret getting the black color because, although they look great, they're too hot for warm, sunny days. They have only very limited water resistance, but they dry quickly. I'm 5'6" and the size 28 is too long for me. It's fine if I'm wearing boots or relatively large shoes because the pants narrow down near the foot and so will bunch up above your boot/shoe. But if I'm barefoot or wearing smaller shoes like minimalist runners, I have to roll up the cuff. All in all they're great in the right situation, but a bit expensive for a pair of pants I'll only wear in cold, not-too-rainy weather.
I am 5'5 and even the short pants were a bit too long for me with a 30 inch inseam. Seemed a little longer than a normal 30 inch inseam I bought these looking for a lightweight ski pant. I love the material, but they still don't fit great over my boot. Super tight fit over a boot. I like to loosen my boots for the skin up and these fit so tight over the boot you wouldn't be able to easily or quickly do that. I think either a taller zipper so they're wider at the base would help accommodate ski boots. I would like to say that I still think these are an awesome pant, they just don't fit me or the activity I was hoping to use them for
I have more than my fair share of these pants and always looking for more. Yeah, the crotch has split open on a few but as always, Marmot has come through and repaired them for me. They are my daily wear and love them dearly. I have two, OK, three complaints/requests...First, put the pocket back on the side of the right leg. The most recent design with the pocket moved to the front of the left leg is awful. Second, more colors please! Third, reinforce the crotch seam to reduce blowouts and warranty returns (I miss my green pair that the crotch blew out and were replaced with black ones because green was not longer available).
This is the first Marmot product I've owned and I'm impressed! I'm tall and trim (6'4" 160lbs) and its great to see a company offering pants in longer inseams without needing a 34 or larger waist. Many others "tall" sizes still fall short. When I first put them on I noticed how well the materials felt. I can tell these are going to be a favorite and last a long time. Pockets are lined with soft materials inside and zippers are solid and easy to use. It's also a great feature to have the gusset along the ankles where the zipper is rather than leaving you exposed if you have to unzip them. Highly recommended! Sheds water and wind very well even in colder climates. Â
They look good too, but above all it's about practicality. All pockets have zippers (so one is unlikely to lose stuff), are sufficiently deep, and there are a total of five. They are super versatile: they look good enough that you can go to a restaurant, but they also have all the needed features like the zippers at the bottom: they will even work for skiing on not too cold days. They are reasonably water-repellent, but are breathable enough that there is not too much condensation even on warm days. The material has some stretch which means that they are super comfortable and the regular fit is neither tight nor baggy. Did I say I was really happy with this purchase?
I bought these for fall / winter / spring hiking, snowshoeing, and peak bagging. I love 'em! They are super comfy, quite breathable, and do an excellent job blocking wind and repelling light precipitation. I'm comfortable in these plus a base layer down to about 15 degrees as long as I'm fairly active which I usually am. I do run hot though. I've had them in high winds climbing Mount Saint Helens and could barely feel any wind getting through. Also had a run in with my ice axe which drew blood on my leg, but not a scratch on the pants. Totally awesome product, wouldn't expect anything less from Marmot.
I like these pants, but I don't love them. Pros: - Nice material that's easy to move in - Zippered pockets with a nice lining - Lower side pocket is able to hold the largest iPhone with Otterbox defender case Cons: - The way the front pockets are shaped, things can easily fall out if they're not zipped - The length of these pants are nice, except for the fact that they're only long enough due to the distance between the waist and crotch. That extra distance makes for a saggy crotch area - The pants are too baggy if you don't have huge bodybuilder thighs Bottom Line: Not worth paying full price
I tried this pant for the first time on an ice climbing trip this weekend. So far I really like them. They did a good job of wicking away moisture and were a good choice for the conditions, as the morning was a bit cool, but by afternoon it warmed up. These pants move with you and do not bind. I didn't wear a base layer under them and it was just right. Temps were 30 deg F in the morning. With our approach being an uphill trek for about a mile and then climbing all day I did not overheat. They seemed pretty breathable. I was totally bummed though when I poked a hole through my new pants on their first day out with my crampons. (That was my fault though). The zips at the cuffs made it easy to get my boots on and laced up. I have thick calves, so the feature was nice. Access to the pockets was easy. A pocket on the left leg identical to the one on the right would be a nice feature.
Excellent pant it feels like You are naked!, it move with You!, excellent for Martial artist and of course for climbing and hiking and everything that required extreme freedom in movements, the feeling of the pant's texture is great too, can be used in some case as a casual clothes and feel like will be a great protection in winter time with a good baselayer layer,( I am waiting for winter time). The fit is good for me too!, a little bit large in the leg, but in really I am in between 30 and 32 inseam. Check this pant!, if You are an "active" person, for sure You will buy it. Thanks! Lorente.
These pants are great they feel great and they fit nicely. I use these paints for valet in Michigan and also for paintball. If anyone has played paintball before knows that these pants are good to go in any situation. I'm diving in them, hitting my knees on the ground, and taking hard paintball shots to the pants. I get home wash them with warm water usually not with soap and hang dry them. Basically these pants are good to go in any situation I'll probably buy a few more pairs. I fully recommend these to anyone working outside, camping, hiking, or just relaxing on a fall day. BUY THEM!
