very nice
I've used for years a 20ft 5.5mm kevlar cordelette for trad anchors. I don't like sewn loops for that because it's hard to equalize and wasteful, especially in tricky terrain where you need to hunt for nut/cam placements. I tied end loops at both ends with a backed-up figure8 knot. Finally this is an off the shelf alternative to what I used to do. Up-side: 15kn single strand strength, stuff pouch. Down side: about 2x as heavy as my 18kN cordelette solution, and 2x bulkier. Issues with kevlar: how does it age with knots and how strong are my end loop knots. Rated strength is worth the weight.
Liked product so much bought a second
I'm a trad climber, I used to bring long heavier slings with me but, now I bought two of these and haven't looked back. With two I have enough length to handle just about anything that I deal with. Makes setting up a 3 point anchor quick and simple. I did find that when I only had one if making a 3 point anchor is was too short, but after buying a second I've had no issues. 2 of these are lighter than and easier to carry than cordage or webbing. Also the storage bag works really when keeping the sling from getting tangled with the other gear in my rack. My final opinion easy to use, easy to climb with, quick to set up and lighter weight than other options, need to carry 2 for serious climbing to prevent rope drag at master point in some cases depending on pro placement.
great for kayaking
It's obviously useful as an equalizer, but it is outstanding as a kayaking safety device. I use mine as a short rescue/throw bag, quick anchor for rescues, for lowering kayaks on portages, as an emergency harness, and of course as an equalizer. The storage pocket fits easily in my life jacket, and I can get to it in a second wherever I am on the river. The fixed loops on both ends are fast and convenient whether I'm setting up an anchor or clipping to a kayak.
Anchoring made easy
Anchoring in made me nervous to get something wrong but this simplifies it and it gives you a diagram on how to use it on a single/double/triple anchor bolt(s)
Webbing
This is a long, 15 foot, webbing with sewn loop at each end. Convenient but at REI's $34.95, I would just buy the webbing and tie the loops. I would have longer webbing at the price or lower cost at the length
Great design for convenience!
Great design for setting up anchors quickly and can easily be stored on your harness. Only problem I have is that if you setup on two bolts it's a bit long. Isn't a huge deal as its better to have it too long than too short, but if you're mostly going to setup two bolt, single pitch top rope anchors it may be better to find a sling at REI that's right length for you while still equalizing safely.
Excellent Product
This is an excellent, versatile piece of gear. Works great for setting top ropes in virtually any configuration.
Always in my pack
I've been using this for a little over a year. I'm about to buy an additional one. It's become a standard piece of gear that I pack for every outing. I've used it for just about any kind of anchor set up situation. It's easy to carry and use. It's a must have for any trad and multipitch climber.
Get that top rope set and start climbing!
I like the loops built into each end of the product
Good piece of kit
I like the way you can use two or three anchor points. I trust this thing!
