Only used twice, then snapped!

I recently purchased my first Thule product, and was so excited because I’ve heard about their quality and great customer service. Unfortunately, after using it twice (correctly done so), one of the straps split. I guess I just expected better from this company. After all of these reviews, essentially stating the same thing, you’d think they’d figure out the problem and head back to the drawing boards. There has to be a better solution, especially since it’s a part that is most used. Is it to make it so we need to buy more? This just seems strange considering this is supposed to be a great company- I’d think they’d perfect their products since they are so specialized in what they manufacture. Just my two cents!

Hello Rolawna, I'm sorry to hear that your bike rack straps failed! This is something we can normally easily replace with spare parts. While bike rack straps are subject to wear and tear, and so are not generally covered under Thule's limited lifetime warranty, two uses is a bit short of a lifespan, so I'm glad we were able to help out with some replacements under the Thule Guarantee. We hope you enjoy lots of rides with your bike rack!

Eulogy to the old stretchy straps I LOVED

Reviewing the straps and rack of the old version of their racks. We had this rack for over ten years and had almost no issues. One or two straps had single hole failures, but we have tightened them down on trips to the beach and to major bike competitions VERY TIGHT. I MUCH prefer these stretchy straps to the new ratchet straps which are a pain to use. I wish they'd go back to this design. BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU SCREAM FOR. On the other hand, when a non-strap related failure struck our old rack, Thule stood by it and replaced the whole thing with a brand new rack. THAT is a quality company. Thank you THULE!

Best to have extras

Having extra straps with you proves to be important d/t the eventual tears of straps by stretching. Best to buy when you buy your rack so they’re compatible. Just stick them in your trunk or other in-car storage.

They're fine for me

The previous review mentions that they're difficult for a woman to use. They are pretty stiff when new but my wife was used to the originals when we got the rack and they work absolutely fine. Yes, she has a little difficulty sometimes but she actually likes the feel of them snapping into place. The bikes feel secure.

Replacement strap ripped when I attempted to put in on.

I bought the replacement straps to replace a ripped strap from our bike rack. In putting it on, the strap tore. I will attempt again with another one, but am concerned about the quality of the replacement straps. Our original straps lasted several years without problem, and this one didn't take much to be useless.

One snapped in half after <3 months

These were very expensive and one has already stopped in half after lesson three months of years. I don’t know what to do to it should stand behind their quality I hope that they will give me everything for them or send me a replacement for the one that broke I am very disappointed.

I'm sorry to hear about the damage to one of your straps! Bike rack straps are generally not covered under Thule's limited lifetime warranty, as they are a wearable part greatly affected by how they are used and the environment they are used in. Individual straps are also available as spare parts, if you do not need a full set of replacements. I reached out via email to get some more information on your order and discuss possible solutions.

Very Unsatisfied

Was the only strap kit available and does not fit my very expensive bike rack. And, though I have not opened the pack and requested a refund, I have been denied because it is an accessory. A terrible way to do biz and I will never buy another Thule rack again.

I can't believe how much they charge for this

I have had my rack for less than 2 years. It's a great rack, but the fact that one of these already ripped and that they hose you for these replacement parts is pretty annoying. The rack costs a lot in the first place and what choice do you have...

Good replacement for aging straps.

I bought this kit when some older straps started breaking. My bike rack is another brand but these straps work fine and the price was a bit cheaper than the other brand's replacements. Not the same exact shape as the others but these work fine.

Just not good quality and expensive

Thule needs to listen to these reviews and change this product. The straps break and are expensive to replace. I started keeping the straps in my glove compartment thinking the sun makes them weaker. Even the new ones break easily.
