If Jesus had worn socks, he'd wear Darntough

As a helicopter pilot I expect a lot from my socks. They need to be comfortable, durable, and flame resistant. Darntough is the best I've found and the only brand I take with me overseas. These socks fit perfectly and keep my feet feeling great even after 24 hours or more without taking my boots off. The natural fibers make them safer for me to wear in the event of a fire and also benefits in keeping the stank down after several days of wear in the desert. They're made in the good 'ol USA which gives me that warm patriotic feeling and guaranteed for life. So stop wasting your time, blisters and money on cheap throw-away foot rags and invest in quality that you can count on.

Absolute tragedy - no longer the same

I think they have two versions of these socks out there, and are phasing out the older, better version. I bought these in 2020 and 2019 and they were absolutely the best socks I've ever owned, in every way. Never felt "swamp feet", durable, well padded, never slippery, and warm. I just bought a few more pairs in 2022 and tried them on and it was immediately clear they were a different blend. I only walked a few blocks and felt my left foot chaffing, felt my feel sweaty and gross, and felt how there wasn't nearly as much material/padding as my older pairs. I was slipping around on my carpet after my walk, too, whereas my older pairs don't have a slippery feel. It feels to me like there is more synthetic material than previously. I'm absolutely disappointed when companies cut corners like this. I would MUCH rather pay a few extra bucks and keep the exact same amazing quality as before, but alas. This is capitalism in 2022 for you. Extremely disappointed and I'm returning them.

Great year-around sock

Note: The height of mine after multiple washings is 8" from bottom of heel, so it's not a tall boot sock, as others have noted. Your leg will show if you sit down with slacks that aren't long. I totally love these. I've been wearing 5 pair for 18 months now, year round in the Seattle area and in the mountains. I've been a runner who's worn low ankle socks for many years, so these mid-height don't bother me a bit. They're as good for me on hot summer hikes as in my winter boots in the wet winter cold. All my life I wore wool-blend Gold Toe dress socks, which always seemed clammy & wouldn't dry properly. These are far superior, wear like iron, no odor.

AMAZING!!!!!!!

I just bought these socks in Flag REI and used them when we were hiking Angel's Landing in Zion National Park. It was raining, snowing, 30 degrees, and I was wearing running shoes (Hiking boots just died). Every Step I took water came pouring out of the mesh top of my shoes, but guess what.... My feet were warm. No blisters, no cold, nothing! Buy these or some variation of these socks. They're ridiculously amazing.

Great socks, but try on for size

I wear size 10.5 Vasque shoes, and really have never worn size 9.5 (or under) shoes except for Teva sandals, so I bought the large socks, but they were too large when I tried to wear them. Returned and got medium, which fits perfect. They are very good socks, warm (but not sweaty... my feet run warm and I usually get sweaty with cushioned merino socks) and they just fit well and don't dig into my calves. (They are the perfect height if you have large calves.) I got them because my favorite merino REI socks were discontinued, but I like these even better than the REI socks. So far I am wearing them for everyday and for hiking, and they are perfect for both. Definitely worth it.

Excellent socks!

I'm a big fan of those Smartwatchamacalit socks, and always will be, but my newest trail shoes fit just a tad bit smaller than normal. Rather than give up on the shoes I went looking for socks with slightly less bulk. I knew Darn Toughs only by reputation and when I found them on the rack at REI I noticed that they're well padded on the bottom and around the heel but less so on the top and around the ankle. I decided to buy them and if they didn't work out with my trail shoes they certainly look good enough for casual wear. As it turns out, they're perfect for everything!

I will never buy any other pair of socks

Take a look at Patagonia's Common Threads Pledge (quick google search) I feel These socks fall right in line with that pledge. I received two pairs as a Christmas gift and i believe with two more pairs i'm honestly set for life. You can't beat the lifetime guarantee but they are so well made i don't think that won't be much an issue. As a test i wore a pair a week straight with light duty work. No smell, no stretch, all i did was lay them inside out over night. When the weather clear's i have a big hike planned so i will return to comment it's performance then.

Thru-hike tested, thumbs up

I got these socks on my 2013 NOBO thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail. They replaced some Smartwool's which had gotten their first hole within 100 miles. I needed a sock that would last more than a week, and the Darn Toughs are those socks. My first pair went over 1000 miles before the first hole appeared. They carry a lifetime guarantee, but I did not utilize it because I felt I had gotten way more than my money's worth. By the end of the thru-hike, Darn Toughs were the dominant choice in my hiking circle.

Simply the best

I have owned and used Thorlo, SmartWool, and Omni-Wool thoroughly over the past decade and these are hands down the best socks that I have owned. They fit perfectly, are extremely comfortable, and breathe better than any of my previous socks. The light cushion is similar in comfort and padding to the medium cushioned Thorlo's but without the bulk that caused my feet to be soaked with sweat at the end of the day. Throw in the lifetime guarantee and there is no reason to not buy these...I just bought 3 pairs!

No warranty exchange through rei

I bought 2 pairs at rei this year. One sock split open at the seam near the toe. Not so tough after all. I read on hikertimes.com. that virtually any rei will do the exchange for you. So I washed the pair and took them with me on my next trip to buy stuff at my local rei. The door greeter told me rei does not do exchanges, but I could mail them back. For all the money I paid for them I'm sure not going to spend more money to ship them back! What good is a lifetime warranty for something like this without some kind of exchange agreement between the seller and the maker? Waste of money!

Quality socks!

I bought these for my summer out at Philmont Scout Reservation and just recently tried them out a little bit before hand in order to make sure they were up to par. I wore them both with rainboots and in heavy duty hiking boots and they performed fantastically in both settings. Usually in rainboots my feet feet hot and muggy after a few hours, however these socks left me feeling cool and dry as well as supported and well cushioned. In my hiking boots they did the same, and offered some protection against blisters (as the hiking boots were new and being worn in) as compared to other socks I've worn with them.
