For their intended use, I think that the Ange is quite simply the best carabiner in the world. What's the intended use? Well, they make an incredible bolt end carabiner. I have never found that a big carabiner is necessary for the bolt end of a draw, because you're not fiddling around with clipping a rope. Instead, the Ange has a gate that's easy to open with one finger and clip into a bolt, a nut or a hex. I use other, bigger carabiners to clip the rope, but these are the lightest, smoothest clipping keylock carabiners on the market, and if you're going to use them for the right thing, then there's nothing better.
I have average sized hands for an adult male, with relatively thick fingers. It took me a while to adapt to the relatively small gate opening, but I eventually was able to adapt and I no longer have issues with handling these carabiners, even with thin gloves on. The key lock design is very secure, and less susceptible to accidental opening than most other designs. I haven’t had any issues with the carabiners accidentally getting nose hooked or crossloaded. If you use these carabiners on the rope side of your draws, the rope can get hung up on the gate while clipping. However, I don’t think it is a big deal. I think the reduced weight and additional gate security is worth the slightly increased difficulty of clipping.
I put a biner on every cam. Works great. Rope does no get caught/notchless. my new favorite biner
Was thinking about switching to these on all my alpine draws, but after working with them for a bit just didn't like how small they are. The small rounded gate is more difficult to manipulate than wire gates or bent gates. Maybe the ANGE L will be better
I use this product every single day and it works great for me. There are so many different applications I can use my Carabiner on. I would recommend this product to anybody who interested in purchasing a Petzl!
This carabiner is easy to use and the silver color does lose its finish. I have used it repeatedly in rain, snow, salt air - no degradation. Not having a “hook” in the gate keeps it from snagging.
No complaints. Different but nice
