First time Chaco buyer
I have always wanted to try Chacos and I didn't bite the bullet until I went to South Africa for 2 weeks. I got these specifically for this trip to wear on the multiple beach walks and around the camp. While I agree with the other reviewers a out it "strangling your big toe", I kept readjusting and stuck it out. I am pleased to say that about 2 months later the straps have stopped sliding and these have been the only shoes I've been wearing all summer. They are my go-to to wear with summer dresses and to wear paddle boarding. I do have a wide foot and getting a wide really felt good in terms of strap placement and arch support.

Punish your feet with these Chaco ZX/2 Yampa
This Chaco sandal came highly recommended only to discover after two attempts that this was not the sandal for me. After adjusting, adjusting, adjusting, and more adjusting the sandals had my big toes in a choke-hold after an hour of walking in them. I then ordered the "wide" sandals & it was even more disappointing. I have since returned both pair; I would not recommend this particular model: ZX/2 to family or friends. Clearly overrated. Try at your own risk.

Best water shoes ever!

They are well built, adjustable at so many points to make them comfortable, and perfect for feet with high arches. The sole is thick so you don't feel the rocks your are stepping on. The foot bed is softly hatched which allows for good foot grip and water shedding. I have owned a pair for ten years now, and my daughter and I were going on the Deschutes and she needed water shoes. I didn't want to influence her, so I had her try all the shoes available, and this were chosen without hesitation. And I checked in with her during the trip and after, and she is thrilled with the shoes performance and feel. She knows it was the right choice.

My #1 Shoe

I have owned my pair of black Z2's since 2006. They are without-a-doubt my #1 pair of shoes or sandals. I have worn them throughout the summer season in Texas, Alabama, and now in Idaho. I wear them to all-day events like festivals, to the beach, and camping. I proudly have a Chaco suntan shortly into the sandal season. I have worn my Chaco's so long that the straps are starting to fray a bit but fit like a glove. I recall they were a bit heavy and the straps rubbed a little when they were first new, but with frequent wear they are the ultimate sandal. I'm sure I'll go through a period of mourning when these finally break, but I believe they are repairable with reChaco. They do not disappoint!

Don't care for them

I thought it was just me that suffered strangulation of the big toes and had to constantly adjust the strapping. After seeing the other reviews I see I'm not alone. The other major thing for me is they rub on the inside of my foot (the left worse than the right) and no adjustment of the straps helps. When I first tried them on they felt fantastic but after wearing them a couple days and doing short walks I got the rubbing (blister causing). I was really bummed because I'd bought them to take on a trip to So. Cal where I knew I'd be doing lots of walking and loved that my feet would be able to breath. I took them on the trip but I ended up really not able to wear them.

Very Very Pleased! I love Chacos now!

I went in to buy Keens and decided on the Chacos instead. Very good decision. I wear them basically everyday. At first your feet have to get used to the places wear the straps will rub and the adjusting (somewhat confusing at first) but once you get it they are great! I hike, wear them to work (on a mountain), bike ride, and slackline in them! Overall awesome purchase!

Very adjustable sandal

I have feet that are hard to fit...short, wide, high instep and high arch. These sandals adjusted to accommodate the high and wide well. They also have a good arch support. You can move the webbing around for a snug, comfortable fit. The missing star is for the regular readjusting that is needed to keep the snug fit. The strap behind the ankle is also a little loose if all the straps are not adjusted right. They are comfortable and I have gotten several compliments.

Takes Some Getting Used To

I've been a Teva girl all my life and decided to switch it up after two pairs broke on me. When looking at Chacos, I would recommend making sure they will fit your foot size PERFECTLY before buying. The heel strap you can't adjust is a little too loose for me, and I think that's what's causing it to pull and tighten around my toes while hiking. Also, the sole texture caused some extra discomfort and blisters. I think once my feet get used to them, they will be fine -- that first hike was rough though.

My big toes said no

I so wanted to love these sandals -- they're incredibly cute, and I've always wanted a pair of Chacos. First I tried a pair of women's 9 wides. I became an expert in the straps in no time, because I had to keep loosening the stranglehold on my big toes every 10 minutes. The wides were way too long; the heel strap extended past the back of the sandal. Next I tried a pair of 9 regulars -- they were too narrow and also kept trying to squeeze off my big toe. So I went to a men's 7 regular with a single strap, and in the words of Goldilocks, they were just right. Thank you, REI, for your open return policy; I wear my men's Chacos every chance I get. While they're not as cute and girly as the double-strapped sandals, I do not have to beg my walking companions to wait up while I adjust my straps ...

Cute sandal

So far this Spring I've used them out and about, church. They are comfortable, great arch support, fit my narrow, low volume feet well. I did have to adjust the straps just right to get the fit. It did take several tries. My usual size 7 fit well. One really nice thing about the Chacos is that you can adjust the width; that is a problem for me in finding any cute sandals in a narrow. I have the Pixel Weave color and love it. I have other Chacos, they are durable and can be machine washed. My others have been machine washed as sand (from slot canyoneering/swimming) had to be washed out.

Comfortable with some alterations

I feel I should start out with the things I love about these sandals. I have been needing a higher arch in my summer shoes and these fit the bill. I was having some foot pain and arch support really helps alleviate that. The ZX/2 is really cute and can go just about anywhere. I do a lot of different activities in one day and I can wear these everywhere I go. There are a few things I don't like. The movable straps while nice for adjusting to your foot move constantly! I was always having to readjust at least four or five times a day. I took them to a cobbler and had them put in a few stitches where I liked the fit and now I am very happy. The strap that tightens to put on or remove the shoes was so long I was walking on it. I just had the cobbler shorten that too. Now I think I have a great pair of comfortable sandals. I will let you decide if the extra money and time is worth it. I think it was for me.
