Immunity to Parking Tickets
Without this, your vehicle tends to be prone to parking tickets in southern California's national forests. But this will grant your vehicle immunity to parking tickets.

Research what trailheads/sites take this first!!!
Bought this as we heard we would need this for any sort of parking on Paradise Road (near Santa Barbara). Maybe things have changed since the pandemic, but the places we were hoping to use this pass to go to did not take this pass (looking at you, Aliso loop and Upper oso trailhead), so it's been a total waste of money so far, paying for the pass and then the actual fees for the trail parking. Not very transparent, this pass really makes it up to you to figure out where it will cover. You will have to go onto the forest service usda website and navigate around their ancient topography map. Some places within the forests listed are managed by other entities, such as "Parks Management for the Forest Service" (oof the privatization of public lands continues?), and they have their own annual pass X___X. I really don't mind paying for the upkeep of the lands, but it would be nice for the pass to actually cover the whole of the forests, or at least list what trails/sites it does and doesn't cover. Just...do your research before you get it... it covers a lot of things, but maybe not that trail you've been wanting to go on...

Makes boondocking easy.

Makes life easy when free campsites are filled up or just an adventure in the areas the pass covers.

Was able to the the Adventure Pass for hike to San Jacinto two weeks ago. In the store, and made contact with front welcoming person, and was directed to where I needed to go. Have purchased the Adventure Pass before, and was aware of it needing to be punches for month and year. I purchased card, and going out to car, noticed it was not punched, and confused. Went back in the the welcoming person, said I was correct that it needed to be punched, and she went to a cashier, and advised about the punching, and it was completed. Just make sure you get the Adventure Pass punched before you leave, otherwise it is not valid. Overall I have have good experience with REI.

Adventure Pass is Great... Placard is flimsy.

Please note, this review is more a complaint about the physical placard/sticker, and not the Adventure Pass itself. The Adventure Pass itself is fantastic thing to have. This placard spent a single 8-hour day in the car as I was out hiking, and the sticker started to pull away from the paper backing! It would have been very difficult to store this thing somewhere and have it be ready-to-go for even a second-use. The outside air was probably around 90F, so it was nothing unexpected for a Southern California parking lot. After my hike, I immediately sandwiched the pass between two hard-cover books to prevent the sticker from curling/peeling further, and to restore its shape. Then I ran the placard through the laminator at my office. Problem fixed... but it really should have come as a printed-plastic placard or pre-laminated! Not everyone has access to a laminator.

Get to the trailhead faster!

I was glad I bought this before I went hiking and Chantry Flats . It was busy that morning so I had to park more than a mile from the trailhead and the line to buy a day pass was super long. Buying it beforehand saved me a good hour and probably 3 miles of extra walking to get to the location to buy a day pass and then take it back to my car. it was so beneficial to have it already and just be able to park and go hike. Plus it's well worth the 30.00 for a year hike 6 times and it's paid for itself!

So much easier to purchase through REI

Purchased my annual Pass from REI, came in handy! I purchased this at the end of June and wasn't intending on using it till July so I'm glad that they were willing to punch it for the month I would start using it rather then the day I purchased it.

One of the better parking passes I've ever had

I mean......it's a parking pass that allows you to park in certain areas to go hiking and backpacking in the wilderness. Do your research about when and where they are allowed then buy one and use it. Yeah, the sticky side kinda sucks sometimes but get over it and figure out how to use this pass. It's good for everybody. Turn off your phone. Go outside.
