Excellent product
This is a fantastic bag that I take with me almost everywhere. From toting around as a carry-on to weekend road trips to use as a boat bag or tackle bag on fishing trips, this piece almost never leaves my side. It's durable, simple, and cavernous. One note, though, while the fabric itself is waterproof, the bag is not. The seams are not taped and the zipper offers no water resistance. After sitting through several hours of torrential rains and T-storms on a boat on a lake, the bag had an inch or two of water in the bottom. Serious rains - water will get in. Light sprinkles, it will stay dry.

Great bag...poor material
I really like the versatility of this bag. However, the outside material is quick to breakdown. I have experienced cracking and tearing on TWO different bags within 6 months. I am not exposing the bag to any extreme weather or direct sunlight.

Perfect bag for travel -- of any type

I purchased the small duffel as a carry-on for a trip to Asia. Perfect for traveling through multiple airports and stuffing into overheads in airplanes. The back packing straps are comfortable and convenient. I will also be using this for camping later this year and expect the water resistant feature to useful. There is only one web pocket on the inside of the flap to the main opening to the bag. It would be nice if it had at least one outside accessible pocket for small items such as keys or travel documents without having to open the bag all the way,

Bomb Proof Bag

I have 3 of these bags (S,M,L) and they are fantastic for any trip. I bought this one for my wife before she went to Africa for two weeks as her carry on. The backpack straps come in handy all the time, and the bag is bomb proof. These bags have been schlepped all over the world, been strapped to the roof of my truck through a severe rain storms, been a storage place for firewood at camp, and numerous other rigorous activities and have been solid through and through. Great bag at a great price.

Not Completely Waterproof

A couple of the comments mentioned that this duffel is waterproof. It's certainly water resistant but not waterproof. I used it a couple of times canoeing. If there's any water in the bottom of the canoe, it finds its way into the bag via the seams, of which there are many. If you're looking for waterproof, consider the The North Face Waterproof Duffel...

All you could want from a duffel bag

Perfect airline overhead bin size, small enough to carry what passes for my normal loads by just using the grab handles. While I completely understand the backpack style shoulder straps for the Base Camp Duffel series--and make good use of them on my larger capacity versions--for the small it seems that a single shoulder strap would do the trick. Not a deal breaker by any means, though.

Great Duffel

Perfect carry on size for climbing trips - can carry my rope, pro, shoes, and harness, and not have to worry about the airline losing it. Backpack straps are really handy. Material and zippers are very burly.

Perfect bag for a weekend trip

This is a great duffle for any trip! Use it for a weekend getaway in the summer or winter. The bag is very durable and waterproof so you aren't worried if it's raining or snowing and your contents getting wet. It fits everything you need for 2 people to travel comfortably and it has a shoulder strap and attachable backpack straps if you want to carry it on your back. Great buy!!

Everything it boasts to be and more

I bought this and 3 other sizes for my sons. I saw my oldest carrying the large size when he came home for a visit. Amazing duffle bag. I am very picky and quality means a lot to me. His large duffle was so well made, strong, waterproof,I wanted to get him additional sizes. My son is an avid adventurer and uses this all the time. Very easy to clean. After seeing his large duffle, I bought the small to hold some of his climbing gear, and the medium for more camping uses. Bought my other son the large and medium and my sister-in-law (seeing the bag) bought my brother a large also! It is a GREAT bag - having one in every size is a luxury! Perfect for camping - and for travel. Just touch one, look inside, put some stuff in it and you will be sold. Love the handles and the variation on how you can carry it.
