Mosquito problems? No more.
Wonderful stuff. Doesn't smell too bad, lasts for hours and hours. More effective and longer lasting than other sprays I've tried. I especially like spraying it on the underside of a broad-brimmed hat, at which point it keeps bugs out of my face, eyes, and off my neck without the need to apply any of it directly to my skin. I have used it in WY at the height of summer, when the mosquitoes appear to rival sparrows in size and travel in visible clouds. I've also had great luck with it in FL, where the 'skeeters are virtually an existential threat.
No more insects, bugs, and creepy crawlers.
What can I say it's a chemical, we don't even like it, so mosquitos don't as well. It works the best product for keeping them away. I have used it since sometime in the 1980's I'm still alive just follow the instructions for application. I feel this is worth mentioning it seems to be oil suntan lotion texture it has always been this way. With that said I get really hot when this is on and tend to burn if my skin is in direct sunlight much worse then if nothing is on my skin. In closing again the best non natural insect repellent second to none.
I'm a bug magnet, but not with Ben's 30% DEET
I've been using Ben's 30% DEET while hiking in woods, fields and wetlands for years with great results - keeps the biting insects away for several hours at a time. 30% DEET is the recommended amount because higher percentages have rapidly diminishing effectiveness (i.e. don't waste your money on higher percentages). The small (1.25 fl oz) plastic bottle of Ben's is light and easy to carry and reapply if needed. It's a pump spray, easy to apply without excessive over spray.
Works really well
I've been in the Sierras for three different week long trips so far this year. We usually camp by meadows (for our llamas) or water, so we get lots of bug, mozzies, etc. When the herbals stop working Ben's slams the door. I spray it on my hat brim and on my long sleeve shirt for starters...just a little on my face and hands. When that stops working it's time to get behind some mesh! Works great in the Sierras...recommended!
This is good stuff
Have used this all over the world. Even though some people are not fond of deet, it is really necessary in Asia and Africa where mosquitos can be very problematic. The bottle doesn't leak, and it applies easily.
It Worked
Ben's 30% did the job when the generic 10% DEET did not. My daughter and I had a small bottle of Ben's 30% and a big bottle of generic 10% on our recent, six-day, Yosemite backpacking trip.We are having a big mosquito year in the Sierra, due to heavy snowfall, last winter (yeah, I know, a big mosquito year for us is mild compared to some parts of the country). The 10% was adequate in our low mosquito campsites. Other campsites required Ben's 30%.
Worked great in Alaska
The spray worked great for me while hiking in Alaska. The spray is small and lightweight, easy to carry. I was being eaten alive by tons of mosquitoes in the Anchorage / Denali area - they stopped as soon as I applied the spray. A relatively thin application worked fine for me but be careful to apply on all exposed skin. Not sure what else to say - it worked!
I wish I could rate it zero
Totally worthless. I was swarmed by three different biting insects halfway through a 7 mile hike. This seemed to attract them, because they were landing all over me (dozens on me, on my arms and legs, going into my ears, on biting my face) but no one else on the trail seemed to have problems.
Must have
Makes being in the wilderness much more tolerable. I think it's one of the best bug sprays I have ever used.
Works great, but leaks
This spray really works. It's kept me bite-free in the middle of the Amazon. That being said, if you have to carry this on a plane—especially in checked luggage—put it in a plastic bag, then put that bag in a plastic bag. I lost several milliliters just to leaking from the bottle in my bag.
