Great bike trailer
The Burley Bee Bike Trailer is a well thought out design. It has ample storage. A fair amount of room for 2 kids to ride side by side, but could get too snug as the kids get bigger. Its very lightweight but seems very sturdy all around. I returned a Weehoo iGo Pro Trailer Bike and picked up the Burley Bee. We had a second kid, and to be honest my first son wasn't really enjoying the Wehoo, along with some other safety concerns that I had. Very easy to bike with this trailer, and has little impact on your riding. Overall very satisfied with the trailer. I actually came back to the San Diego REI and thanked the bike mechanic who had put it together in the store for me (unfortunately i forget his name).
Great, but not so great.
The new Burley hitch is quick and easy to use. The Bee is super light, packs down small and easy. It has a major design flaw, however. The rain fly does not attach firmly at the bottom, it is an open flap that faces down toward the road. The splash from my back tire shoots right up that flap and into the cargo area, right onto my child's face. This happens with a wet road as well as with dry dirt and gravel; it all ends up on the kid. Major Fail. Returning the trailer to REI tonight. I've ridden in all elements with it now: rain, snow, dry roads (with gravel on the shoulders) and mountain bike trails. Every time I end up trying to cover my little girls head and face from the grime.
Love it Get one
My wife and I researched several baby trailers for weeks and came down to Burley (Bee, Encore), Blackburn's Copilot and an In-Step. We quickly ruled out the In-step (you got what you paid for-Cheap). And we really liked the Copilot but when we went to purchase and hooked it up to my bike (G. Fisher Marlin) my shoe (sz 14) didn't clear the clamp when I peddled. We ended up purchasing the Bee b/c the axel which clamps to the quick release axle. Only had the trailer for a week and have made a few short trips, but we really like it and so do our two children. All in all the Burley line is the Cadillac of trailers, the ease of use is amazing. I would recommend to anyone.
GREAT PRODUCT
PURCHASED THIS AS A GIFT FOR OUR DAUGHTER AND GRANDSON; ORDERED ONLINE AND HAD DELIVERED TO STORE. THE STORE HAD THE TRAILER ASSEMBLED AND READY TO GO WHEN WE ARRIVED TO PICK IT UP. THEY SHOWED US HOW EASILY THE TRAILER BREAKS DOWN FOR TRANSPORT IN A VEHICLE. THE FOOTPRINT IS NO LARGER THAN A REGUAL STROLLER. I WAS PRETTY IMPRESSED. VERY STURDY CONSTRUCTION, LIGHT WEIGHT, AND THE WINDOWS ON THE SIDE WILL ENABLE OUR GRANDSON TO EXPLORE THE PASSING WORLD, AS MOM PEDALS ON, BUT WILL KEEP HIS HANDS AND FINGERS OUT OF WHEEL DANGER. THIS TRAILER IS BUILT TO CARRY ONE OR TWO TODDLERS.
Solid quality
It is lightweight but solidly built. We got this model because it was one of the least expensive of the Burley brand, and it folds down easily. To put it in the back of our car, I remove the wheels (easy push button), remove the tow bar (push button and safety pin), and fold the riding compartment down. If I was doing long trips or commuting with toddler in tow, I would probably opt for a more deluxe model as I could see some of the itmes in the storage area sliding under the seat. I won't be riding in the mud, so I can't speak as to whether the rain cover keeps tire-slung mud out. The bottom borders are attached with velcro on front and back which makes for a nice taut compartment. It rides smooth, and my toddler loves riding in the back. Interestingly, the locking pin separated from the safety strap within the first two weeks. This was not a safety issue, but it would make it more likely to lose the pin when not engaged on a bike. A phone call to Burley and a replacement strap arrived within a few days.
Fantastic Bike Trailer!
This is my first trailer and I'm in love! I had it shipped to the store to avoid shipping charges and it was fully assembled and ready to go. The staff were great about showing me how to disassemble and even loaded it into my car since I was with my 17 month old. It was easy to attach to my cruiser and is a really smooth ride. The only problem I have had while maneuvering it around a store in a tight space one of the wheel buttons popped off, though it is still easy to pop my wheels out for car transport.
Great
My almost two year old son wakes up every morning and asks "Bike? Bike?" We usually use it in our neighborhood to ride to the playground. It is very quick to attach to your bike, but he wants to be in it even before we can get it hooked up.
LOVE the Burley bike trailer!!
I love this trailer, it is easy to hook up and pulls easily. My only worry is that my son (who is almost two), pushes his feet out of the bottom of the Velcro cover-I don't want his feet to ever touch the back tire.
Love it!
I bought this trailor for some extra excercise for me and fun for my 2 year old - I apparently jog too slowly for her in the jogging stroller, so whizzing around the neighbourhood in the trailor is certainly much more fun for her - very exciting!! We have only used it on the local neighborhood streets, and not along our local canal path yet, but I think it'd be great down there too. It's easy to assemble and attach & lightweight so I don't really feel it behind me. We love it!
Love it
This trailer is super awesome. Seriously don't waste your money on the $500 ones, this one has all you need. I bought the stroller attachment as well. Also, I was able to get this on my bike, which does not have disc brakes. However, I know that it does fit on bikes with disc brakes, [...] You just buy this overpriced chariot hitch adapter, [...] [@] Then, you just get this: http://www.rei.com/product/781177/burley-standard-forged-hitch
