Wow...great...amazing!

I bought two of these as we were taking a trip to Arcadia National Park, and that requires a 14 hour drive. I was worried at first, as I have always used the simple front fork mount racks on my Forester, but for my wife's Impreza she wanted racks that made it so she did't have to remove her front wheel(disc brakes). We had our two bikes up there for first test 725 miles...speeds exceeding...well lets just say pretty fast. Through a rain storm, high winds, it stayed solid and then 725 miles back. Her car has the oem aero bars which flex alittle with bikes up there when the wind gusts...but I am amazed. It installs in under a minute...the bike goes on in under 30 seconds and removes the same. Only one issue...and it has more about the users height...I am 5'5", so to put the bike up you have to lift it by the rear triangle and front fork to make it. If you are short and or your vehicle is tall, you might need a step stool.

Bike flew off my car on the highway.

I was extremely lucky in that nobody was behind me when this happened. I purchased a Yakima Frontloader in 2017. It’s basically lived on my car since then. I travel a lot and the thing has reliably carried my bike across the country (Washington state to Florida) more than once. I changed tires to a thicker tire on Saturday. Not considerably thicker...but thicker. I have a Specialized Vita. Sunday I was driving on the highway going about 65 after having attached my bike the way I usually do. I hear a huge THUNK and look in my rear view in time to see my bike FLYING through the air. I pulled over and thankfully the bike was largely undamaged because it landed in the soft median. That’s a testament to Specialized’s engineering. However the rear strap on my Frontloader had snapped in half. I have no idea how the tire slipped out of the holder but it did. I loved this rack up until this point. Maybe it has an expiration date? Maybe I shouldn’t have left it out in the elements? Either way, this seems like an extraordinarily dangerous issue and the fact that there isn’t a strap on the front to secure the front tire is, in my opinion, quite an oversight.

Strong and sturdy

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The FrontLoader is very sturdy and holds the bike perfectly. It has been useful for holding and securing several types and sizes of wheels, from a 20" youth mountain bike to a 700x25C road bike. It is a great piece of engineering. The rack is lockable to my car and the bike, is quick and easy to put on and off between my 2 cars The features are well designed and easy to use - wheel size selector and cable lock in particular. I find loading a heavy bike onto an SUV is a bit high for me (I am 6' tall) to roll it forward into the front wheel mechanism but the design's simplicity, security, and ability to collapse to a lower profile when not in use are worth it. Be mindful if you have fenders or anything that may cover your front wheel as the tension needs to be on the tire or it may bend or fender. Overall, I absolutely love it!

Perfect for Chevrolet Colorado with GearOn Bars

We just bought a 2017 Chevy Colorado. Chevy's marketing material recommended a Thule Big Mouth. Pictures showed that the bikes had to be on the top bar and be rear facing. The thing I didn't like the most was that the tires kind of hung over the tailgate. The perfect fix is the Yakima FrontLoader! Our bikes fit perfectly in the long bed on the lower GearOn bar settings. They're super secure and I can't believe how easy it is to get bikes in and out of the racks. I've been Thule guy, but this rack from Yakima is a game changer for those of us that have Chevy Colorados. It's a perfect fit.

High quality easy to use bike rack

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the best rail mount bike racks I’ve used as a rail mount bike rack. It’s extremely easy to mount and unmount from the coats crossbars and is very easy and quick to get your bike on and off. Very solid and secure mount that you won’t have to worry about thing moving around while you’re on the road. You can tell this will be a bike mount that will last a life time. Great quality accessory from Yakima, one of the best car mounting companies out there. I got this product in exchange for a review.

Nice bike rack!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Influenster sent me this rooftop bike rack mount! It is pretty hefty and well made. You can tell it’s very sturdy. It fits most vehicles and makes life with a small SUV so easy. It is winter where I live right now so I won’t be riding a bike any time soon, but I am excited to be able to use this in the summer instead of having to load the bikes in my fiancés truck!

Front loader

Bought this to hold my 29er. Works well for mt bikes. Easy to adjust between all tire sizes. Have used it on long highway speed trips and does allow the bike to wobble a bit but bike is secure. Works easy enough to put on and off my roof rack; does help a lot that I am tall and have better access to putting it on and off my accords roof, Only concern..... Prefer not to put my road bike in it because I feel it puts a concentrated pressure on the front tire and rim where as the mtb tire and wheel are larger and stronger can take more abuse.

Well made rack

I've been using a pair of copperhead Yakima racks that require you take the front wheel off for years but it was hard to get the wheel adjusted correctly on my new bike so I decided to give FrontLoader a try. On a sedan it is super easy and fast to load a bike. Bike stays secure (make sure that the front hub is always tight or it might come loose). It takes maybe 2 minutes to remove or install the rack itself. It is so easy, in fact, that I install the rack only when I am carrying my bike. Warning for SUVs: I am 6'2'' and I can't quite reach high enough to load a bike on a Subaru Forester which is pretty small for an SUV. I carry a step stool to assist in loading.

It's nice not to have to remove the front tire. It loads quick and easy. Fit's perfect on Toyota bed rail system using L2S Brackets and yakima crossbars.

Do Not Buy This Bike Rack!

This rack should be pulled from the shelves. I've had this rack for about a year and only used it on occasion but the Forklift mount I usually use broke a few weeks ago so I had to use this FrontLoader and my bike flew off my vehicle at normal highway speeds! I am so thankful that no one behind me was injured, or that this didn't cause a larger accident, but my carbon fiber mtn bike was destroyed by the truck behind me. This could have been sooo much worse! I'm still out a $5k-$6k mtn bike! I just hope my review will deter someone else from buying this rack - it's not safe! I even stopped to double checked the tightness 5 minutes into the drive.
