Good for commuting but would prefer bigger pannier

I use this pack for commuting to work. It works great with my Topeak RX rack. It holds my lunch, wallet, phone (and shell pants/shirt on the warmer ride home) fine. However, The panniers are not large enough for putting 8.5 X 11 papers (and folders, and notepads) in. This means papers need to be folded in half, and no bringing rigid notebooks.

Pay attention to dimensions

There's nothing wrong with this bag. Quick release is a great idea. Based on other's experience seems to work well. For my needs the bag is too small even with the top extended. Needing to carry U lock & chain as well as jacket/other clothes, lunch and small stuff needed for my commute and there just isn't enough room. This is absolutely my fault: I should have paid more attention to the dimensions posted (purchased online sight unseen). Returned.

Great for commute and around town

I have used this bag on daily commutes and buzzing around town. It is part of Topeak's lighter weight QuickTrack bag and rack combo. Small lock, wallet, cell phone, small pump, small tool kit, tube, lunch, and change in clothing all go in in this flexible bag. The slide off feature is fantastic. There is a little loop on the back to clip a tail light. While the zippers have not worn out I fear they will. I wish all bag makers would use the big toothed zippers. The bag's rack is light, the rubber pieces that go between the seat post and rack clamp are too fussy to make it something you'll take on and off quickly. So plan to put it on and leave it on. Over all it a great setup for a commuter.

Great product

I have used the larger model of this trunk system for many years...I am an all season rider. I love the versatility...morning rides to work require extra clothing that goes home in the evening in the panniers of this trunk. The only negatives I have found are that it is not waterproof (plan accordingly) and as it ages, the rack loosens up a little so the trunk rattles some over bumpy terrain or less than smooth pavement. (Solved by tying down the panniers with the supplied bungies). Overall, again, great product...I added the smaller one to my arsenal for a planned 130 mile ride.

a great bag for every day!

Topeak is my new favorite bike parts maker, and this bag is now in my rotation. I already owned the larger version but it didn’t mesh with my Ortlieb panniers because it’s too wide. The larger version is also big enough it becomes kind of a “garbage bin” (well at least if you are me). And a smaller bad forces my ADHD brain to be organized. This bag will allow ortlieb panniers to mount (barely) and is the perfect size for a lunch and other items. The panniers on this item are pretty small but can fit layers removed on long rides. All in all a great bag, nicely designed and easy to use.

Excellent product right size.

After inexplicably losing my other (larger) bag, I picked this one up during a sale. I haven't been happier. As it turns out, the larger bag was too large for my needs. If I need to go grocery shopping, I just hang another bag on my rack. This bag has the same durability as my other bag, just smaller. There's room for a smartphone, my tools and an extra tube. Overall this bag is perfect for my current needs.

Perfect size for my road bike

This bag is perfect for my needs: snacks, tools for a flat repair, keys, and my battery (I’ve converted my bike to an ebike). There is still room to spare. i think it is one of the smaller bags from Topeak (which is what I wanted), and I don’t even use the side zip bags. I feel like it fits a good amount for its size. The quality is unsurpassed. I spent hours looking online for the right size and style of bag for my road bike. It’s hard to figure what you want need, when you can’t see the products. I finally just went into an REI store and found the bag I wanted in less than two minutes. I would recommend going into a store. I actually brought my bike into the store because I was so tired of looking online, unsure of how the product’s size and style would work with my bike. One of the bike employees was able to help me fit the rack and bag to my bike. Thanks Topeak and REI!

Nice Little Bag

I use this bag on my commuter bike and it works great for me. At full capacity I can fit a pair of pants, belt, socks, wallet, cell phone, and keys in the main compartment. With the panniers open I can fit a shirt and undershirt on one side, and a pair of shoes on the other. The shoes have to stick out the top of the unzipped pannier but I have never had any issues with them sliding around or worried about losing them to a pot hole. On cloudy days I can slide an umbrella under the elastic bands at the top. I use this bag with my Explorer MTX rack, which works great. Easy to slide on and off. If you are looking for a bag that can hold tons of gear, including tubes, tools, etc. for a long commute I would recommend one of Topeak's larger bags, but this works great for my relatively short commute (about 2.5 miles one way), and I keep a spare tube, etc in a seperate wedge bag. It's also great for pleasure rides around town, when I just need a few essentials.

too small

I missed the dimensions, my bad. way too small for my needs. Panniers barely fit a book, so this will not suit my needs whatsoever. Would have been helpful if the photos showed the size compared to a bike or another size, or if Topeak had mentioned that it is Mini in the name. I’ve now lost the 20% off discount and rewards dollars on this item. Had I known it was this small I would have purchased the larger one.

(Almost) Exactly what I wanted

I needed a small, expandable trunk bag and this filled the bill perfectly. The one thing I didn't pay attention to, however, is that it is designed for Topeak racks. I do not have a Topeak rack and could not use it as is. Fortunately REI also sells a Topeak rack adapter to accommodate this bag. Be aware of that and you will have a happy purchasing experience.
