I have had a lot of packs over the years. This is by far one of the best I have used. It is a stripped down alpine climbing pack that has all of the necessary features without a bunch of frivolous weight adding nonsense. It holds a considerable amount (I loaded a rope, rack of doubles, draws, shoes harness, and still had room for clothes, food, water and bivy gear). It carries a heavy load comfortably and compresses down to a low profile climbing pack when the action starts. After my first weekend in the Tetons with it, I don't have a single complaint. If you are into alpine climbing or a good all around pack, you won't go wrong with this one.
This bag rocks. Its light and very durable (its survived as airplane checked luggage and always comes out looking great). I can pack 30+ lbs into this pack and its still comfortable, provided you pack it correctly. I'm small--5'6 and 115 lbs--but this pack is very adjustable and makes carrying loads easy. The no frills exterior is great (less to get caught), and the open ended Z compression straps are brilliant. They make it easy to pack ski/trekking poles or other large objects. I really like the bivy pad that is included, it helps stiffen up the back panel a bit and makes a great sit upon or ultralight sleeping pad. The floating lid is another great feature, making it easy to expand the capacity of the pack or pull the lid over your rope. My only problem with this pack is that it doesn't fit well unless its full. Normally this isn't a problem, but if the pack is only half full the back panel will collapse a bit.
