Swix does the "tricks"
First off, I have to admit that I've never had any kind of "holder" for my cross country ski poles. I used to have a rack for my car I would just put them on. These are the first self-contained holders I've experienced. With that, I've been very happy with these. There is a small foam pad that inserts inbetween the skis, then the rest just wraps around the skis with a sufficient amount of velcro to keep them secure. They are light weight and you can stick them anywhere. I would be interested in how they compare to the soft rubber "Ski Bones".
Fine way to secure skis, but Ski Bones are better
I bought these for my new skis. On my old skis, I use the Ski Bones, but since I see almost everyone else using the Swix straps, I figured I'd try them. They work fine, but the back ends of my skis are narrow, and these straps don't cinch tight enough to completely secure them. Sometimes, the bottom strap comes off when I grab the skis to carry them. So they mostly work, but I prefer the Ski Bones for having a solid, secure, stable fit on my skis. Ski Bones take an extra few seconds to secure the skis, but I'd vote for those over the straps. They might work fine on xc skis that don't have a tapered back end.
Double check the size
Work great, only issue is that they are a bit short for my Fischer E-99s
Good Straps
Hold fast and tight. These were too small for the new trail skis I just bought at REI Connecticut. They do fit my 30y.o. Alpina XC trail skis.
