Holds are smaller than advertised!

Just got these home and mounted them, they seem like a nice alternative to a hangboard. The problem I notice is that they are pretty small. The mid sized "four finger edge" only fits 3 of my average sized fingers, even my girlfriend who has small hands can't really fit all four pads on there and hang. The "3 finger pocket" is actually a two finger pocket. Not a big deal except that there is no small edge for me to train all my fingers on.

One and a half year review: Awesome sauce

I've used my Rock Rings now for a year and half 3x per week. My grip and forearm strength, pecs, lats, abs etc. have benefited greatly. I also have NO elbow pain whatsoever like I would get using a static pull up bar. I get really bored lifting weights so I can't think of a better, more fun, challenging and sustainable piece of workout gear than the rock rings. Especially at 30 bucks. I used some additional cord to extend the rings from my mounting points (lag bolts) from an exposed beam in our high ceiling living room. One minor negative is that the surface has somewhat smoothed after 1.5 years of use but that's probably to be expected. This is a rare (for me) 5 stars but well deserving for Metolius.

Excellent

Picked these warlocks up about a few weeks ago and have seen tremendous progress in my climbing. I had looked at hangboards for a long time, but was always turned away by the risk of elbow injury with too many pull ups, which I heavily emphasize in training. I found the metolius rock ring workout pretty hard ( I am still having to cheat a little on the 2 finger pocket), but on the overall these things are rad. The ease of set up is also a huge turn-on: when the weather is decent, I sling some old rope over a tree branch and do the workout outside after a run (try doing that with a hangboard). Portable, way cheaper than hangboards, and promote open handedness with ease. Get them.

Excellent finger training

Absolutely excellent product. I hang the rock rings from a pull-up bar, and use them to train my finger strength. They promote open-hand technique, and I've seen a marked improvement in my climbing since I started training with these. While I used to crimp much too often, I've trained myself to use open hand holds more often thanks to the rings. I used to climb at a 5.10b-d level but could not progress any further because of finger and joint pain. After a good period of rest (1 month), and another month of progressive training with the rock rings, I no longer experience inflammation or pain in my fingers; I climb around a 5.11a-c level now. The rotation of the cord also lessens injury to my wrists, elbows and shoulders (unlike training boards) Highly recommended for an intermediate climber who is beginning to hit their limit with contact strength.

More versatile than I thought

I got these a few years ago and haven't started using them consistently until recently with the stay-at-home orders. With these rock rings, an over-the-door pull-up bar, assortment of webbing/slings, and carabiners, I've been able to do fingerboard workouts (not ideal, but not entirely bad) and a variety of TRX exercises (push-ups, rows, mountain climbers, ab roll-outs). They aren't as good as gymnastic rings or the TRX system, but I didn't have to pay anything extra for the ability to do these exercises, which is handy for these financially uncertain times.

good training tool

I am not a serious rock climber, more of an all around outdoors person. A few month ago I decided that I needed to work more on my upper body and core. Overall I really like this product. The fact that it can rotate helps me train my entire arm and allows a more positions than the classic training boards. The loops make it easier to mount and it can also be taken up/down more easily. Overall I would recommend over the classic training boards for a casual user for me. If you are a serious rock climber I would definitely get this in addition to the classic training boards.

Great Workout Enhancer

I do not climb as much as I would like, but I am a fan of pull-ups - these training holds perfectly complement any pull-up related exercises. They are easily strapped onto a bar to combine finger and wrist muscle toning with the same effect as the "Perfect Pull-Up". The workout plan that came with the instructions was enough to smoke me in 30 minutes. Some people claim that the holds are too small; I wear a large-size glove and fit my fingers just fine.

these are especially sweet because you can mount a couple of inconspicuous hooks on the wall in your room or at work-- :) -- and then you can keep the rock rings in your desk and just hang em up when ever you want to use them. Great work outs are possible, for your abs as well as your forearms and back. usually 15 minutes is enough to get me really pumped

Another 5/5 Metolius Product

I train for increased upper body strength, flexibility, and endurance with these rings. They can be used indoor or outdoor and there is a certain level of skill development that manifests itself while training with them. If used indoor at a gym its a good way to make new friends as many people will approach you and inquire about them. Chicks dig me while I'm on these things for some reason so that's a plus too. Great product at a very affordable price.
