Comfortable

I'm 5'10" 170 lbs medium build, wear size mediums. I fit perfectly in this chair. Although the front edge of the seating is taut when occupied, because of its low height, your hamstrings don't rest on it with your feet on the ground. The back is high enough (for me) to rest my head fully against it, and with the addition of the armrests and the recline angle, it's very easy to assume the nap position. The materials seem decent enough, the cup holder and the cooler pocket are a plus, and the two strap carrying bag makes this a solid car camping/beach chair. It's not ultralight, but not especially heavy either(about the same as the REI Low Comfort Chair,6-7 lbs). P.S. About the other reviewer with the "broken" chairs, I've found that the intrusion of sand particles to the moving parts of most folding chairs make it sometimes difficult to close. You just gotta shake it against something solid to clear it out. My two cents...

Almost

If I were short, I'd say "Perfect." For someone over 6' I think it sits a bit low. Once I'm IN the chair, I think "Ahhhh, this thing is comfy." But when it's time to get up, I grumble about how low to the ground it is. I try to sit it so a slope is in front of the front legs to make getting up a bit easier. When asked if I would recommend it to a friend, I checked "Yes." But that is providing they are not too tall and spry enough to escape from it!

Small but heavy

The chair is pretty comfortable once you get it set up and in it. As others mentioned it is really low. it is much more like a beach chair. However, it is really heavy and pretty bulky especially considering how small it is. It is really awkward and difficult to get it back in the bag. Cooler is a neat idea but really pretty useless. I think it will hold 2 cans or 1 bottle.

Good sturdy Chair

This is really a good chair especially in summer for car camping because it's made out of mesh you won't had a sweaty back and butt. Maybe that's just something I suffer from lol. Overall a great chair, the only downer I see is that it may be difficult for elderly and pregnant women to get out of it because it's almost the same position as sitting in a recliner except your feet aren't elevated off the ground.

Not well made- Broke first use

I bought these chairs for use on the beach and for car camping. I liked the ideas that there was a cooler attached to the arm; a high back for lounging on the beach; short enough for music festivals; neutral colors that would go with all of my gear; and that they folded into bags that I could keep in my trunk. The bags that the chairs came in were well made and durable. The chairs were comfortable but not as light as I had hoped. I bought them on sale in the winter and used them both for the first time over this past Memorial Day weekend. Both chairs broke on the first use. They would not fold up properly. So, I had to put them in the back seat of our car without putting them back in their bags because they were both still half open. The next day we used them again at the beach. They opened up fully after some wrangling. When I went to close them at the end of the day, again they would not close. Unfortunately, this time one of the plastic parts (the foot of one of the legs) broke when doing this. I was surprised because the plastic foot looked strong. My partner and I weigh 140 lbs and 170 lbs respectively, both within average weight ranges; so, excess weight was not the issue. Instead of having two broken chairs that were heavy and open and trying to lug it back to our car over the approximate 3 block walk over the sand on the beach, we gave one to the boat rental man. If he hadn't taken it, I was going to leave it at the garbage can on the beach. I still have the other chair stuck open in my trunk that needs to be returned to REI. I can understand now why the chairs have been on sale for most of the winter and still are on sale into the summer. I will stick with GCI and REI brands for my chairs- both of which I own and have been well made and fold well.

Great for Wet sports

We do lots of beach camping here in Hawaii, so the typical canvas/cloth with rubber backing is not ideal. Both for the passing trade wind showers and coming out of the water wet means the chair will not dry off quickly afterwards. These mesh chairs are the perfect solution and dry of very quickly. The mesh is surprisingly strong. I don't have any friends that camp with us that weigh more than 200lbs, so I'm not sure how it would hold up. I have one chair we bought to test it that is more than a year old and we just bought a second because it has been holding up better than the other styles of chairs we own. The cooler in the arm rest seems to be a kind gimmick feature, but we use it to put cell phones and wallet inside when we are in the water(note we 4WD out to remote areas and camp where there are no people, I am not suggesting this as a security feature). The chairs constantly get sprayed with salt air and sit in salty sand and have not rusted or failed in multiple camping trips. The chairs do sit lower to the ground than average, which is great for a lounging use than a sit down and eat at a picnic table use. It is just about comfortable enough to take a nap in the shade with this chair. Since it does sit low, the folded size is surprisingly tall and heavy. It looks compact when open and large when folded up compared to the other chairs we own. However, I am attributing this to build quality, since the other chairs we purchased from Sports Authority have all torn in various places, where this one is holding up exceptionally well. One of our friend's muddy dogs sat in the chair and when we got home we just hosed it down without a fuss and it dried out much quicker than any of the other chairs. This also helps when we go to sleep for the night and leave the chair by the camp fire and it rains during the night. Other chairs have puddles of rain collected in them, while this will dry out first. We will buy more as they seem to go on sale at certain times throughout the year along with other things we get from REI.

Lower than I thought

The little cooler is the arm was neat, but for sitting at a fire it was way, way too low.
