Great pants
I had seen this line of clothing in Squaw Valley last year. I found the pants on sale for 1/3 of the price. they are perfect for after ski going out pants. they are heavy. I live in LV and wore them once this summer. they are not for warm climates.

Kuhl Ryder pant review
DON'T BUY THESE PANTS. These pants fit great. I'm 5'-8", 140lbs. I purchased the blue color. Washed them and dried them before I put them into my rotation (as I always do) and they came out of the dryer with a bunch of white crinkle marks. They looked like the dye faded everywhere. I took them back, REI was awesome about it, of course. I exchanged them for a new pair and they did the same thing again. I think Kuhl puts too much dye in the fabric and it'll do silly things when you wash them. Too bad too, because they fit awesome. If you like the acid wash look from the 80s, these are the pants for you. :)

Great fit, a little flashy but rugged

This is the first pair of pants I have bought at REI in a while - most of their pants are either skinny leg or super baggy, and sizing isn't consistent on many brands. I had one pair of Kuhl pants that are so baggy I don't wear them anymore, but these have a much more flattering fit. They are comfortably fitted through the waist and hips (and run a little smaller than sized, I wear a 33 and 34 fit me well), and are relaxed but not baggy through the legs. I've worn them to work, and the gussetted legs are a little too "stylish" for an office environment, but they are perfect for running around town or a weekend in the woods.

Not real happy

Not real happy with Slate Ryder pants that I purchased. After 1 time in the washing machine they are already look very worn (not in a good way). It maybe the color or the high efficiency washing machine, but they have a whiteness to them from the laundry soap or just being tossed around in the washing machine. Also, the fabric tends to attract everything (grass, dust, hair, etc..) Pants that I wanted to wear at work now become pants that I will wear in the yard. Not good after 3 weeks.

Cradboard!

These pants looked good on the rack but it was all downhill from there. The fabric actually got stiffer and stiffer with washings! They look like you slept on the sofa for a week in these. The cuffs began to fray after only 6-8 wearings. The color faded in very unattractive ways. They appear to be well made but are in fact very poorly made. The stitching in unraveling at the seams. The fly is useless as well.

nice three season pants

I bought a pair three years ago, liked them so much I bought another pair 2 mos later. Last year they started to show wear, so I purchased a third pair. The first two I wear fall, winter, spring, and when very cold, with a pair of thermals underneath. Great fit, great material, well stitched. The only complaint is the snap does not hold unless I have a belt on. I always wear a belt, so it is ok for me. The third pair is nothing like the first two. The material is different, the fit is not the same, and these are all the same brand, model and size. The good news is, the snap holds. Some things were improved, others not so much. I am disappointed they changed this model, but still like the brand. Just think I have to find another favorite.

Tough and versatile lpant

Very comfortable, everyday use pant for fall, winter, and early spring as the material is nicely thick and comfortable. It is exceptionally very well made in terms of all materials and stitching. I think that the manufacturer may have istened to earlier comments about shrinkage and made it now tiny-bit oversized. But that is not a problem. I have washed it 3-4 times in cold water per their specs and has not shrunk. The dark brown color does bleed a little to give a worn look. I like it very much! Since I bought it at the regular price, I will have to wait to get another color; all three colors are excellent!!

Good Pants cheap zipper

Good as in VERY comfortable. But I'm now tossing out my 4th pair of $70 pants due to the zipper breaking. It is also true what some of the other 1 star reviewers have stated about the fading and wrinkling that comes after the first wash. That bugged me but I'm not one to iron my cloths or worry about wrinkles. Hence my 1 star review is because I'm frustrated with the cheap zippers. I have switched to Duluth pants.

Poor Fly Design

The inside flap that buttons across the fly area is so large that it prevents use of the fly! One has to unbuckle the belt, unsnap and unbutton the pant and zipper to take a P! The pockets are also too shallow and change and phone fall out while sitting. These pants are not practical but they look nice and I like the pleats at the knees.

Great Pants!

I bought a couple pairs of Kuhl pants a few years ago and wore them out (slightly different material, but the same style cut as these). I liked them so much that I bought three pairs of these pants (in three different colors) about four months ago. They are incredibly comfortable, and my wife loves the way they look. I wear them to work pretty much every day. They are comfortable in both hot and cold weather, good for moving around or sitting in (they don't bind up). I absolutely LOVE the cell phone pocket, which is just the right size for my smart phone. I've now cycled out my older Kuhl pants for recreational use (had to patch the crotch in both of them, which just goes to show that I sit down too much at work). I've been wearing them for hiking, and they are great, but I probably will not take them backpacking because they are a little bulky to pack.
