I've owned this hat for years and have a love hate relationship with it... When its really cold, I have to wear a fleece headband over the ear flaps to hold them down... If the ear flaps were 1/2-3/4" longer with some weights sewn into the fabric, I think they would perform much better...

Obviously this hat isn't designed to be taken to Alaska, or else your ears will fall off. This is for those of us that want more fashion than a beanie. I commute to work in Philly by train so I wanted a hat that still looked nice but provided some warmth. It's perfect for that function. It also doesn't crush my hair like a beanie does. If you really need the ear flaps to stay down you can thread something through the button holes to keep them in place. I think that's why they use buttons over snaps, the holes give you an option. Super cute hat, I have a small head so the medium fits great. The split visor allows me to shove it into my coat pocket.

I really, really wanted to love this hat but I can't. I bought it last year after tracking it down when it had nearly sold out. I expected it to be the perfect functionable/fashionable hat for my walking city commute but it's really only good to about 40 degrees with no wind. Below that, or with just a little wind, the ear flaps are useless - they don't hold your ears snugly and easily flap away in a light breeze.

I Love this hat! It's different than most I've seen. The split brim is great. The inside is more of a gray than white like the pictures, which I prefer. I measured myself before ordering and was well within the Medium range, but had to return it for a Large. The padding inside makes it fit tight I guess. It makes a great dog walking hat.

The fit and warmth is good: no pressure points and soft, although I do wish the liner was wool rather than polyester. The ear flaps don't quite cover the ears but the flap does fold up easily and stays up without needing the buttons. The brim is a good length against the low winter sun and the ability to fold it down seems like a good idea for stowing it. I'm happy with the hat overall despite the downsides and would recommend it to anyone looking for an alternative to a beanie.

This is a really nice hat. I received this has as a Christmas present and have worn it daily ever since. It is very soft, warm & comfortable for most situations. I have not been out in severe weather yet to warrant pulling the flaps down though. it looks great and with the fold-able brim I can tuck it in my coat pocket. My only desire would be to have an adjustable strap to tighten it a little for skiing & sledding.

Overall I like it but here are my views on the pros and cons Pros: 1. Used this at 4F and walked around for couple ofmiles and the warmth is sufficient and good enough 2. Lightweight and groovy 3. Easy to fold and tuck it in your backpack, jacket pocket and so on Cons: 1. Earflaps are smaller in length and it will definitely not cover up well as Trooper Hats 2. The circumference of the head fit is OK

It's a nice looking cap, and it's comfortable. However, it turns out that the ear flaps are for looks only. Yes, they go down, but (a) they aren't very big, and (b) nothing holds them in place. It should have a strap that goes above the cap, yet can be placed under one's chin when the ear flaps are down.

Got this on clearance, at the time i dont think i would have paid full price for it, but looking back i think i have used it far more than i expected, and would pay full price for it in a heartbeat. this hat is super warm, looks super good, and nobody is wearing it. OR did a killer job on this one

I love this hat, it was out of stock for awhile but I kept checking back and finally it was available so I grabbed one. Choose the size carefully, I originally tried a Large, but it was just too tight, so I had to return it and get an XL. I'm not that large but I guess I just have a big head :-)
