A couple of other reviews mention the problem with sizing, which I experienced too. The basket does not fit my bike and I’ll be returning it. Maybe this information will help other people know whether it will actually fit your bike or not…Using the fit gadget, the basket clicks on to the vertical rail at the front of the rack. In order for it to fit your bike, you need at least 6.5 inches of clearance above this rail. That means either you need to have the seat well above it, or maybe figure out how to place the rack farther back. In this photo, I have extended my seatpost (to a ridiculous point) to show the spacing - this barely clears it and still means my butt will be in half the basket. Otherwise, it seems like a fine item, as depicted in the listing.

very easily broken

The basket itself is fine. As I saw in other reviews the handle can fall off fairly easily, and I can work with it but I can also see why others have had a problem with their seat fitting with it. My issues, and the reason I am debating if I want to buy a THIRD one, is that the plastic part that holds the basket to the rail breaks very easily. At which point it's useless. On one my bike did fall. Not very hard, just tipped over. The second was just leaned against a wall but that was enough weight to snap one of the plastic edges off. I don't get why the part of the set up that is likely to face the most stress is the only plastic part of it. Seems like it should be metal too.

nice big basket

This basket is exactly what I needed for commuting, taking my dog to the park, grocery shopping, and leisure riding. The geometry on my bike is such that the basket sits behind the seat, not below it. So I don't have a problem with it getting in the way of the saddle. (My bike is an XS Novara Forza.) The basket rattles a little even when secured in it's topeak rack when it's empty or weighted unevenly, but I don't have that problem when I put more weight in it. I love this basket and would recommend it to anyone, as long as it fits with the geometry of your bike. (Reflective sash in picture purchased separately.)

Problematic attachment

I wanted a basket I could use for grocery shopping, so I got this and the Topeak rack that goes with it. As other reviewers have mentioned, about 30cm of clearance is needed between the bottom of the rack and the bottom of your seat for the basket to clip on securely. It is still in the 'track' part of the rack, but it doesn't seem very secure there, and I'm afraid it will slide backwards if I have to stop suddenly. Further, the handle of the basket is *very* flimsy, and I don't think it would work well as a grocery basket because of this.

enjoyed it while i had it

this was good for groceries and riding around town; held plenty, though when heavily loaded i needed to be aware of CG issues and handling of bike (just an fyi, not related to basket quality) the quick release was handy. it was convenient to shop with the basket and a bungy or two. i had the same trouble as some others with the handle coming off, especially since some of the streets were cobblestone/bumpy. the last time i used this basket the handle bumped off and wound around my XT rear derailleur. it was grindy at first, and oddly artsy once removed. i was lucky not to be in traffic. no damage to bike but i returned the bask. i would buy again if handle defect was handled.

Works for me!

Since I already had the Topeak MTX rear rack and a few accessories, all I had to do was attach the mounting piece to the basket with a Phillips screwdriver and then slide the basket onto the rack. It was all of 10 minutes, and I took my time. Our first use was a 3-day weekend staying on the beach in Huntington Beach. My intended use was to carry three towels, various sunscreens, and a cable lock, but there was enough room left over to carry my travel partners' two cross-body travel purses. We stowed them under two rolled towels, laid one towel on top folded flat, laid the coiled cable lock on top of that, and used two diagonal bungies to keep everything from bouncing out. This is our fifth time doing this trip, and we ride about 15 miles each day along the Huntington / Newport / Balboa beach boardwalk. We immediately discovered that getting this basket was the right move; it easily carried all our stuff securely and quietly, and made the ride easy. Very happy. I'm 5'11" and ride a Trek 750 multitrack; the basket sat just below my seat height, basically perfect, so I didn't experience the seat/back clearance issues others noted. As for mounting, you definitely have to lift your leg over the center tube instead of over the rear tire, and you have to get accustomed to carrying weight back there (my Topeak trunk already had me ready for both of these). All in all, a quick adjustment to make for the convenience of the basket. Can't yet speak for longevity, but it seems worth the price to me!

Works with the MIK system using adapter plate

I did not use the Topeak bracket but instead attached the basket using a MIK adapter plate Sits away from the seat and attaches firmly.

BIKE SEAT IS IN THE WAY

If you're not at least 6 feet tall this will not work as the basket smashes up against the seat. The only way this works is if the seat is extremely extended and goes above the basket. Really poor design. Was it even tested????

Not bad, but...

If you look at the picture on this basket's packaging you'll notice that the seat post on the display bike is about a foot out of the fame. There is a reason for that. The basket sits very close to the front of the rack (This basket only quick mounts on TOPEAK products) If your bike is properly sized you wont have enough space under your seat for the basket. You can get around this by mounting the basket further back, but of course you will have to hard mount it directly to the rack and that kind of defeats the purpose of a quick release basket... All in all it is not a bad basket, but you will want to bring your bike to REI to see if you will actually be able to mount it on your rack. -Justus

Love this basket.

We own two and absolutely love them. They hold a lot, more than I expected. We use our baskets for picking up litter around town.
