Boiled 1.6x more pots of coffee than competitor's
This canister boiled 28 pots of coffee. The 8oz MSR Isopro boiled only 18 pots. Far greater value with this one,
Good cannister, does the job better than others
I love my jetboil stove. I have started buying them for friends and family as christmas gifts. Most people can find a use for them in their life even if they aren't big campers. These Jetboil brand cannisters seem to work better than the other brands I have tried. When using other brands, it works, but if it is super cold or if any moisture builds in your pack, they tend to have some trouble lighting. I have to use a match on those brands. I have never had that issue with Jetboil brand. I prefer to buy them if I am near an REI where they are sold. I only use the other ones in a pinch because they are sold in my small town.
It’s fuel?
Not sure there’s good or bad fuel canisters. I like this size for longer trips, lasts me about a week of comfort level cooking in the cascades where water is plentiful. Hot beverages in the AM and PM, water based meals for breakfast and dinner, for 2 people. It’s less expensive in this still reasonable sized container so this is my go to for anything longer than an overnight.
Went From Good to Pathetic Within 4 Uses....
On a recent camping trip, my stove worked fine using a GSI canister. Once that ran out I switched to this Jetboil. Worked fine for the first several uses but eventually the flame was reduced to a putter. Blew out the threaded opening, cleaned the stove filter, warmed the canister nest to my body for awhile but nothing helped. I had to go old school and build a fire to boil water. After the trip, I went to REI and bought another GSI to test my stove and everything worked fine. My conclusion: It's no fun having equipment failure in the field. Stick with what works.
Jetboil 8.11 oz
We used only one 8.11 oz. can for all five days of camping for the two of us. No problems at all! We loved it.
Best fuel for backpacking
The fun little design change has made the outside more ascetically appealing. Also, the guide on the outside is helpful to figure out how much fuel you actually have left!
Terrible in low temperatures
I tried different lots before writing this review as I thought I had a dud at first: in low temperatures (at or below freezing) it barely burns and when it does it sounds like it’s about to die any moment. In the same conditions, MSR gas goes on merrily (actually the MSR was burning at room temperature - 27F - while I warmed up in my pocket the jetboil gas hoping it would work). Giving it two stars as it works well during summer.
Jetboil Jet Power
,QuantityThe Jetboil fuel canisters perform equally well or possibly better than other fuel canisters that also fit on Jetboil stoves. Depending on the kinds of food and drink I am preparing, n 8 oz canister like this will last me for 5 to 8 days while backcountry camping.
Hot, long-lasting mixture
At least in Jetboil stoves, this fuel mixture provides excellent performance - hgot flame, many liyters of water boiled. I find that 1 of these canisters will last 3 people for a 4 night/5 day backpacking trip.
Great fuel for the price
Don't be fooled. There is more than enough fuel in this can to last you and all your friends on a multiday backpacking trip, even if you're all boiling water for each meal.
