Trail-side, Road-side, or in the Garage
This tool has everything I have ever needed for tweaking/repairing my Mountain Bike on the trail. I have also found myself skipping my full-size tools in my toolbox and using this tool instead, because it's so convenient and always on hand. The greatest initial deterrent was the price, but after I thought about it, it has a chain breaker and spoke wrench, 2 tools that would cost $20 if purchased separately, and since this one works just as good as a fullsize tool so far, I'm glad I have it in my pack everywhere I ride. The only tool I have needed other than this would be a cone wrench, but incorporating that would have made it too large.

Rust. This tool will rust. It was exposed to water for a very short period of time, and even while being stored in my house (very dry place) the allen wrenches rusted. Other parts of the tool are stainless, but the wrenches are not. It's really unfortunate because this tool has gotten me out of a few sticky situations, and is a good size to give you plenty of leverage on your bolts and what have you. The spoke wrench has gotten me out of a few tight spots too. Toured around Japan with this tool. Ultimately, I like my tools to last, because disposable things are not sustainable. Bummed to have thrown away my money on this.
Absolute must carry!
I had to use the chain breaker today on my 8-speed chain and was able to get the broken link out and replaced with a Powerlink, then back on the bike in 3 minutes. Allen wrenches work in a pinch for adjusting issues while on a ride away from your garage or a bike shop. Like a reviewer said about the Multi-19 is that with it and any other multi-tool is that things might get tight trying to fit into certain places, but the pros overweight the con here. If you're debating between this and the Multi-19, the only difference is that the 19 comes with an extra set of Phillips and flathead screwdrivers and a chain breaker that compatible up to 10-speed. If you don't need those, then get the 17 and save a few dollars for other components.
Rust issues - lifetime warranty?
My M-17 has also rusted and pitted. I live in a dry climate (CA) and this tool was not exposed to a lot of moisture and protected while stored. I contacted CrankBros customer support about it since the tool is covered under lifetime warranty but they said that "this type of normal wear is typically not covered under warranty since the tool may be 15 years or older". Strange thing to say with a lifetime warranty...
Useful, small size is a blessing and a curse
I'm new to cycling and bike repair. I bought this because it was the only chain breaker REI had in stock, and it worked great for that purpose. The tool is small, which is great for transport, but on the first ride that I needed to make a repair, the flat head screwdriver was too short to reach the screw that needed to be tightened.
Glad I had it with me on the trail.
I never thought i would have to use all the features of this tool. I had simply wanted a good set of allen wrenches and not all the trimmings. I've recently become an avid mountain biker and have put my poor bike (and components) through their paces. I found that having the chain link tool on this saved me long walks home a couple of times after mud, sand, and some hard shifting snapped my chain. I was able to make the repair and get back up and running again in no time. The other tools worked as expected, good selection of different wrenches and tools allow you to make all the adjustments you need while on the road, trail, whatever. It's solidly built and big enough to give you decent leverage for those stubborn fasteners, but it can be hard to maneuver at times. It's worth it to get this one with the chain tool, you'll hope to never have to use it, but you'll be happy to have it when you do.
Not to shabby
The only problem is that the individual tools tend to move/bend when using them, making some adjustments tricky at times. I like the fact though that you can have a tool out at a 90 degree angle and really get great leverage when you need to really tighten down that bolt.
I never ride my bike without this
I am a bike commuter and mountain biker and I have used every single tool on this unit. The chain breaker is the best mobile one I have tried, and I love its shape when I stow it in my hydration pack. I have stopped to help several other cyclists with it, and they have all asked me where I got it and said they will be getting their own.
It works as designed
Nice little tool that fits in my under saddle bag. A bit heavy but that is to be expected. Nice assortment of tools and is useful for general bike maintenance. I use this mostly instead breaking out the tools unless I am doing something complicated.
Total Tool
Great multi-tool. Easy to use whenever you have that unwanted quick repair on the trials. One of my favorite tools to bring along whenever I'm on a long ride away from camp. Definitely a must have if you are in search of a multi-tool.
