Disc Brake Noise Eliminated

Tried different solutions to get my Avid Juicy disc brake on the rear wheel to stop screeching when brake applied. I was using the Avid OEM pads. Decided to try the Jagwire pads and the noise during brake application is now GONE !

Jagwires' Sport (RedZone) Disc and Hydro Disc Pad

Of the three Jagwire pads, Sport is an all weather low squeal performance disc pad. The other two also manufactured in 2012 are Pro (gold), and Pro X [(Xtreme) black]. Sport is steel backed with semi-metallic pad surface, Pro is alloy backed with semi-metallic pad, (⚠ do not use on downhill or MTB applications. If misused, damage can result ⚠) Pro X is steel backed with a sintered pad. (maximum braking power) All pads use Jagwires' patent RedZone heat shield technology. So far, REI only offers Sport. I use Sport along with the new Jagwire CR-1 vented disc rotors and Avid BB7 calipers. DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS COMBINATION UNLESS YOU FIRST MODIFY THE PAD BY REMOVING THE DISC PAD PINCHERS OR THEY WILL BIND AND MELT THE VENTS. ALWAYS LEAVE SAFETY SENSITIVE REPAIRS TO QUALIFIED TECHNICIANS.

Frustrating Install

I have always used Avid pads as replacements and had no problems installing. I tried the Jagwire pads and had a very difficult time installing. Could not get to install until I used the retaining clips from the Avid pads. The Jagwire clips evidently are not machined to the same specs. I will ride later today and then can comment on how effective they actually stop the bike. Install way too difficult for what it should be.

No More Squeaking

I replaced the OEM pads on my Juicy 3 disks which made horrible squeaking noises from just about day one. These Jagwire pads fixed that problem! Noiseless braking power has allowed me to enjoy my mountain bike again.
