Best Flip Flops EVER!!
I am currently on my 3rd pair of OluKai Haipo flip-flops. The first pair was a golf tournament promotional gift and they lasted 7years. I loved them so much, I purchased my 2nd pair from REI (Tucson) and they lasted 5 years. The shorter life span was probably due to the fact that they were my everyday shoes for 2 years while working in the Bahamas. My wife gave me grief for spending so much on "flip-flops", but when I asked her how long did her fancy flips last (that cost $35), she was proud to tell me that they lasted an entire year! OK...$35 x 5 years = $175. Who got the better deal here? They are well worth the cost.
Incredible comfort with sleek styling...
Consider yourself a fan of flip-flops? These are a must have. If you can get past the price tag and realize that most pairs of shoes ring in at close to $100 these days, there is no reason at all not to add these to your closet. Beautiful styling, top quality leather, and suprisingly good support (yes, I know it's a flip-flop). Once summer time rolls around I find myself going to sandals much more often than shoes and I love slipping into these. I challenge anyone to find a more comfortable and/or beautiful pair of flip-flops out there... anywhere. Prepare to field the compliments and enjoy these work-of-art sandals.
Poorly crafted straps
I loved the look of these sandals, and I tried very hard to get them to work for me. These look like well designed and quality build sandals, but they were really tight out of the box. I read online that you have to break them in, as any quality crafted leather footwear. So, I tried breaking them in for 3 days. While the straps did stretch enough to comfortably accommodate my feet, the bottom of the straps did end up shredding my skin quite a bit. The artificial pig skin liner in combination with rough stitching left my skin ravaged. This is quite unacceptable for flip flops in such price range. Reef Fanning flip flops were comfortable and blister free right out of the box for less than half the price...
Great arch support
Love the looks - love the comfort - love the arch support - they need to be broken in a bit. I have another pair of OluKai's that are more water friendly that were immediately more comfortable. These look nicer though and I'm sure will be better once broken in. Just got both pair a month or so ago.
Olukai are the best
I own several pairs of Olukai's and I wear them daily. This pair, Hiapo Flip Flops, are my formal flips. They are very nice, fine leather and comfortable. I wear them going out on "Date Night" and and whenever I need my feet to look their best! HAHA!
Great sandals
Great sandals, second pair with the first lasting over 4 years of summer use.
Friendly and Fair
Took about a week to break them in. Uncomfortable at first, now they're a perfect mold and comfortable as ever. Soften up nicely. I have spilt a number of liquids and food on them and have cleaned up nicely without any stains.
Tore my feet up
I wore these sandals for a walk around the block and came back with bleeding cuts on the top of my feet. I believe the main reason was that they were not completely snug around the top and there was plenty of shifting while walking. I have high arches which makes this very surprising, but I'm also a thin guy. At least the look was great. The leather strap and thick soles looked like they would have lasted twice as long as my old Sanuks. However, I guess they were a bit too sturdy and just shredded the top of my feet.
A VERY happy birthday boy!
My boyfriend has had his eye on these sandals for a while now. He just couldn't fathom spending over $100 for a pair of sandals. So when his birthday rolled around I decided to spend a pretty penny for these sandals, since after all they are of extreme high quality and come with a guarantee. I also signed up the REI membership and will now reap the benefits of the deals, discounts, and coupons that they provide. Plus the look on is face when he opened up his birthday gift and saw these was priceless.
Disappointing
Although the sandal is very comfortable, they run about a half size too small. The big problem is that the black dye on the insole comes off on the bottom of your feet. You have to scrub your feet after each wearing or there will be dye on your carpet, furniture, clothing and sheets. This might be expected of a cheap shoe but not from a pair of sandals that costs [$]
