Casual, comfortable, durable, work-ready

Shoes are great, out of the box they looked a little wide to me but ended up fitting fine. I wear running shoes as my casual kicks most of the time so I guess I'm used to pretty narrow shoes. Anyway, these are proving to be perfect in the fall weather and will hopefully be solid winter shoes as well (I'm in the midwest, clothes need to be hardy). These are excellent for casual wear and look pretty work-appropriate under a pair of jeans too. I imagine these'd also be good for short hikes, will hopefully get the chance to use them for this purpose in the next month. Most of my wear has been in the city though. First pair of Keens; I'm now a fan.

Have never owned a better shoe

This shoe is the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn. I am really hard on my shoes (Work & Play) shoes. I wear these to work and whenever I'm not at work. And if I don't wear these I am wearing my Keen H2 Newports. I've had these shoes for 8 months now and I would normally have already ripped through a pair of rockports. I have a high arch and instep and have a really hard time finding shoes that don't hurt my feet. These are comfortable, durable, and look great.I paid exactly what they are listed for on this website (currently [$]) I got my money's worth in the first 3 months of wearing these shoes. KEEN Rox!

Great Shoe - Short Laces!

The shoes are very comfortable and have the traditional fit of Keen shoes. The shoes "seemed" to feel a bit hard in coushioning at first but they are very comfortable and provide great cushion. You can walk in these all day on pavement, dirt, carpet, etc. The only reason I can't give them 5 stars is due to the short laces. What person(s) at Keen put these shoes on and could not see the laces are barely long enough to tie? I also went out and bought a pair of Kiwi laces that look better and are longer for about $3. Not a big deal, but come on Keen! How did this pass the initial design stages?

Don't buy

I like the style of the shoe very much, and they are very comfortable when you first put them on. HOWEVER, immediately the tongue begins to slide to the side because there is no lace loop in the tongue to hold it in place. I had to take a knife to the tongue to cut slits. That remedied, I discovered that they make my feet sweat--not something I'm accustomed to. Finally, the laces that came with the shoes untied themselves without fail in less than ten minutes. Yes, I know how to tie shoes, been doing it for over sixty years. So I replaced the laces. Why did I keep the shoes? I really like the style, and as long as I wear them outdoors and only in the coldest months of the year, I'm good.

Comfort and Support

I've been on a mission to find a comfortable pair of black shoes to wear while Bartending and Waiting on Tables. I found the perfect shoe at REI. These Keens are built on a solid platform that absorbs shock and offers support for standing and running back and forth all night. These Keens also have a wide toe box, which leaves room for your feet to expand after a long day and night on your feet. The insole is above average and I was able to place a custom orthodic underneath for unmatched comfort and support. These shoes are great. My wife works with me as waitress and and a bar tender - she bought a pair as well. We both love them! Thank you Keen and REI for getting us a great shoe.

Love these shoes

I bought these because of the success I've had with other Keen products and the reviews from previous purchasers. I couldn't be happier. Very comfortable and while I've had some foot problems there are no issues with these. Since I've had other Keen boots, I know to order a half size larger than I would normally use. Other reviewers complained of the laces being too short but somebody must have listened because that's not the case with mine. Sure hope they don't stop making these because when they wear out I'll get another pair.

Oops, only one month in...

These shoes feel great and have great traction. I bought them just prior to spending a month in Uganda where I'd be spending time doing work with pastoralists "off the grid". Anyway, the shoes were great the first week but by week two the leather part of the shoe split from the rubber sole leaving a 3 inch gap in the left shoe. During the dry season I would have been fine, but when the rains came... forget it. Big disappointment. Maybe an anomaly, but enough to make me look elsewhere next time I buy some shoes.

Dang shoes just won't wear out...

OK, these shoes are the bomb! After a year of total abuse, including but not limited to submersion in the ocean, streams, lakes and snow, AND day hikes in the sierras, canyon and desert hikes in Death Vally and wearing them at work (Standing for 4-7 hours a day), They look close to new. I am pretty sure they are about broke in and I cannot say enough good about the shoes. I bought them on the recommendation of a REI specialist and will continue to wear them the rest of my life. Highly recommeded!

Worth every penny.

I recommend these shoes to anyone looking for a sturdy shoe that lasts a long time. I added the Superfeet in-soles to make a fantastic shoe. The shoes have lasted a year and are still in good condition. The thick leather makes them durable. If you hate scratching the front of your new leather shoes, this will not happen with the Keen Austins because they have a rubber front upper to stop this problem. I like using them for day hikes or all-around tasks. They are great shoes for traveling.

all-day comfortable

Amazingly comfortable. The shoes are well padded on the inside, which helps make them comfortable to wear for prolonged periods. The padding can also make them feel a bit warm, though not uncomfortably so. The soles make them ideal travel wear---stylish enough for pavement and indoors, but rugged enough for off-pavement walks. When buying these I tried several different models of Keen shoes in the same size---to my surprise, some models, though not this one, seemed to run distinctly small.
