Features

  • Top-loading pack shaves weight with its lightweight yet tough 210-denier high-tenacity double-ripstop nylon construction
  • The new AirScape Suspension uses peripheral rods, a nubbed foam back panel and an internal framesheet
  • Running down the sidewall, the peripheral rods anchor to load lifters and hipbelt, actively transferring load and resisting sag
  • Providing superior load support is the women's IsoForm CM (Custom Moldable) hipbelt, a 3D dual-density foam designed to fit the female hip structure
  • Osprey's certified Custom Molding available in most stores—check your local REI store for a custom hipbelt molding oven
  • ErgoPull hipbelt closure provides extra leverage in cinching, drawing tension along top and bottom--not through the center--relieving hipbone pressure
  • IsoForm dual-density foam harness with Spacer Mesh promotes airflow and wicks away moisture during warm weather and intense activity
  • Top pocket can be removed and converted into a lumbar pack; IsoForm hipbelt on pack can be removed and slid onto lumbar pack for comfortable carrying
  • Dual-entry side mesh pockets keep essentials easily accessible, and a built-in front mesh pocket accepts Osprey Excessories for added capacity
  • Front compression wings let you securely compress the contents of the pack, whether full or nearly empty, without sag or load distortion
  • Ski straps, ice axe tool loops, sleeping pad straps, extendable lid and skirt accommodate a variety of alpine gear
  • Hydration-compatible design features reservoir pocket and dual drink tube exit port for on-the-go hydration (reservoir sold separately)
  • HDPE framesheet and single aluminum stay protect back from bulky or pointy items and support heavy loads

great, relatively lightweight pack

I love this pack and its relatively light weight. I did have some problems with shoulder straps on collar bones (this has been a problem with other packs as well), but the addition of 2"x2" blue foam pads placed under the straps immediately below my collar bones solved that problem. With that addition, I find the pack extremely comfortable. I have carried 30 pounds on a 3-day trip and 25 pounds on a 5-day trip. I did have a problem with waist belt buckle coming undone, but one phone call to Osprey produced a replacement buckle that works fine.

could use a few more extras

I got this because it is light, but I think I should have gone with the Aerial 65 instead. The 55 is only top-loading; I would like either a sleeping bag compartment or a front entrance. Also, the lid comes off the bag but does not convert into a lumbar pack--what's the point? I found that a 40lb load was a little too much, but just under that, the pack is great. It has some bells and whistles, but it skimped on some convenience items.

Quality Bag

Quality pack. As with many of the women's specific products that have finally managed to hit the market in the last decade or so, very nice to have a pack truly sized and designed for women. The pack when fully loaded sits nicely on my hips and is very comfortable. Heat moldable belt contributes to this. Overall, a very good quality pack, nice balance of relatively low weight/comfortable suspension system. I can fit a smaller size bear canister inside which I could not with some of the other packs in this size range (i.e., the ones with the wire/mesh suspension systems). Not thrilled with the color, but certainly not too bad (Why are so many women's products pastel colored? I want the bold colors the boys get!) Only nit is that I would have liked a separate outside zipper/compartment for a sleeping bag. The next pack size up had it, but I wanted the smaller size pack to force myself to learn to pack lighter.

Awesome Pack

Love this pack! I tried a couple of others and nothing fit more comfortably than this one. Yeah, it could use more pockets and maybe a daisy chain on the back, but besides the few cosmetics, the pack itself is well built, lightweight and most of all comfy on the hips.

Love this Pack

This pack is very comfortable especially with the custom waist belt. It is also just the size for a 2-4 day trip. This is the first time I have felt my pack was made for me. It would be nice if it had a couple of pockets, but that would just add to the weight.

Great pack

Very comfortable and carries both light and heavy loads well. It was squeaking at the top of the support rods - some silicon spray took care of that though.
