I love this pack and its relatively light weight. I did have some problems with shoulder straps on collar bones (this has been a problem with other packs as well), but the addition of 2"x2" blue foam pads placed under the straps immediately below my collar bones solved that problem. With that addition, I find the pack extremely comfortable. I have carried 30 pounds on a 3-day trip and 25 pounds on a 5-day trip. I did have a problem with waist belt buckle coming undone, but one phone call to Osprey produced a replacement buckle that works fine.
I got this because it is light, but I think I should have gone with the Aerial 65 instead. The 55 is only top-loading; I would like either a sleeping bag compartment or a front entrance. Also, the lid comes off the bag but does not convert into a lumbar pack--what's the point? I found that a 40lb load was a little too much, but just under that, the pack is great. It has some bells and whistles, but it skimped on some convenience items.
Quality pack. As with many of the women's specific products that have finally managed to hit the market in the last decade or so, very nice to have a pack truly sized and designed for women. The pack when fully loaded sits nicely on my hips and is very comfortable. Heat moldable belt contributes to this. Overall, a very good quality pack, nice balance of relatively low weight/comfortable suspension system. I can fit a smaller size bear canister inside which I could not with some of the other packs in this size range (i.e., the ones with the wire/mesh suspension systems). Not thrilled with the color, but certainly not too bad (Why are so many women's products pastel colored? I want the bold colors the boys get!) Only nit is that I would have liked a separate outside zipper/compartment for a sleeping bag. The next pack size up had it, but I wanted the smaller size pack to force myself to learn to pack lighter.
Love this pack! I tried a couple of others and nothing fit more comfortably than this one. Yeah, it could use more pockets and maybe a daisy chain on the back, but besides the few cosmetics, the pack itself is well built, lightweight and most of all comfy on the hips.
This pack is very comfortable especially with the custom waist belt. It is also just the size for a 2-4 day trip. This is the first time I have felt my pack was made for me. It would be nice if it had a couple of pockets, but that would just add to the weight.
Very comfortable and carries both light and heavy loads well. It was squeaking at the top of the support rods - some silicon spray took care of that though.
