Gets Me Back Home
Trail riding with a "fat bike" here in SoCal is a lot of fun, but also very frustrating. The tire casings are thin and treads are sparse to avoid excess weight, and "Goat Head" thorns can cause flats every other ride or so. With Slime, I can finish my ride with a tire that is covered with more thorns than treads! I work with a lot of epoxy and glues, and this compound is amazing (by contrast) in that it seals when and where you want it to, but doesn't clog the tube, glue the lid shut, stick forever to hands or the valve stem, etc. Please, Slime, make "Fat Bike" tubes pre-filled with this stuff!
A temporary solution
Slime works great for a weekend on trails with thorns or those trails know to cause flats. However, slime does not sit well in your tire after sitting in it for a month as gravity pulls it to one side and causes your tire to go off balance. Therefore, its a great product for one time temporary use but plan on replacing your tubes after installation or expect the extra weight and balance impacts as a feature trade off to avoid a flat. The product is great for flats when recreationally riding but I would not use it to compete due to the tire balance and weight trade offs.
Perhaps useful as temporary fix to get home
Followed instructions precisely and air seemed to hold for a while, but flat a few hours later. Based on other reviews I can see this as a temporary(very) fix for getting home, but not as an ongoing,or preventative solution for thorn punctures. Also, the valve has to be removedand the built in plastic tool for removing the valve stem is likely to strip ift he valve has been in there a long time or is overtightened, so I would caution against relying on it on the trail, as you may not even be able to put the stuff into the tube , unless you have an actual valve removal tool.
Seals well, easy to fill
Works great haven't had a leak at all since installing it. Not sure the hose is that valuable though...for me I couldn't force the fluid into the tire thru the valve (core removed of course), but I did use it a bit I guess to make dumping it into the small opening in the tire and not having to take off as much of the bead to pour it in so that made installation less messy. Not sure the proper amount though as the bottle showed one thing for bikes (roughly 4 tires per bottle) but the online calculator was just over 2. I went with the larger amount since this was my first go at DIY Tubeless.
I have always loved this
i have always used my bike very very roughly when mountain and trail biking and especially in california where goat heads and other dry materials go directly through the tire. I will be changing tubes every week or day. so using this paired with the Rhinodillos tire liner IS THE ONLY option. i recommend if your using this and you have tubes to go get rhinodillos.
Can Be a Lifesaver
If you live in tack weed country like I do, Slime is a must. Small holes are plugged almost instantly. The biggest downsize to this stuff is that this will occasionally gunk up your presta valves. From time to time one needs to clear out the harden Slime so the tube can be inflated.
garbage
this stuff is worthless... it rarely works... and if it doesnt... you cant parch the tube because the slime breaks down the glue in the patches... what a joke... maybe its fine for a montain bike rider to plug up holes from goatheads.... when youre a cpuple of mile walk from your car at worst... but if youre touring... and run over a nail... or get a hole bigger than the slime can seal.. you know.. any hole larger that the tip of a needle... this garbage will leave you stranded
Green Slime is great stuff
I ride my bike 6500 miles per year (commute, utility, shopping, etc.). I use Green Slime. It works. I run double the recommended amount. I also run tires with built-in liner strips. I RARELY have a flat. The tire/wheel is slightly heavier than if I did not run this flat blocker technology. I think it's worth it.
Slime is the best
Slime is the best at sealing tubes from thorn, tacks, small nails, etc. Putting it in is easy and off you go! It seals things up so you won't get a flat, I've pulled out thorns with no loss of air, it's great!
works works works works works
i always use this in my area we have puncture weeds and this is the only way to go
