Sizing Notes

Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements.

SHORT: Some pants are available in short sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 2.5 inches shorter than regular sizes.

TALL: Some pants, shirts, jackets and parkas are available in tall sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 3 inches longer and a rise that is 1 inch longer, a shirt or jacket body that is 2 inches longer, a parka body that is 2.5 inches longer and sleeves that are 2.5 inches longer than regular sizes.

Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.

Inseam is measured to the floor.

Best T Shirts Ever - REI Needs to Expand

I have about 10 of these shirts. Love them. I only wish the green was a deeper, darker hunter green, and that REI kept them in stock. I can wear these every day. I often sleep in them, and wear them next day! And they are completely wrinkle free next day. Yes I bathe.. I wear smaller size for muscle shirts to work out in, and medium and large for casual wear, wear under layers for when I am on the water (avid fly fisherman) or in the outdoors, and wear the medium white shirt even under a dress shirt. Heck - I wish clothsmakers would start making performance dress wear. Incredible shirts. REI shoul offer a significant bundle discount, as I bet people might buy like 6 of them if they could get a deal. Robert Johnson, Jr. Alamo California (SF Bay Area)

Love these

I am a firm believer in having fewer, greater quality things. Have owned two of these shirts (1 short, 1 long sleeve) for only a few weeks and so far, I love them. Worn them to work and over a long weekend trip to Wisconsin. These are great fitting and comfortable shirts. Being a minimalist packer, I washed and wore them the next day. Yup, I hand washed 'em in DISH WASHING LIQUID! and line dried 'em.... after multiple day hikes, a campfire, biking and kayaking. These shirts are excellent pack and trip wear. I would also recommend these as a base layer. My only concern is how well will they hold up in the long term. Time will tell. In the meantime, they get two thumbs up from me.

Much better than cotton

I wanted a shirt that was better than a cotton T-shirt at drying after getting wet, was light and easy to wash for travel, wicked and didn't retain B.O. I felt like I got exactly what I want. I'm not an expert with other "technical" shirts so I'm not surprised that this doesn't perform as well at wicking as other specialized shirts (though it's better than any I've worn) but it's *much* better than cotton. This is a suitable wardrobe replacement to wear all the time and is acceptable for working out, hiking and getting wet. These shirts are new for me so I can't speak to their durability.

Great workout shirt

I use this shirt for a variety of fitness and outdoor activities. I'm a medium built guy (6', 170 lb) who prefers tailored but not skin tight t-shirts and this delivers on that aspect. There is definitely a change to the sleeve/armpit openings in the 2009 style, but it's just as comfortable as the 2008, while being a little more refined in it's design. I think those that are complaining about this change prefer looser tailored shirts, with less articulated sleeves. I would definitely stock up on these while they are on sale, but they are still a great buy at the normal price.

Best all-around shirt

I listened to the advice of the other reviews and purchased two of these shirts. Now I own about 8. These are hands down the best t-shirt I've ever had. They do a great job of wicking moisture... they are a workout shirt for me. They are conservative in appearance (doesn't look technical)... I wear them with jeans, khakis (casual vice dress), and shorts. The material is very soft... I wear the white color under dress shirts. My intention was to have a solid travel shirt (I fly for the Navy). Anytime I'm packing my bag I include at least 1 of these shirts. They do not hold wrinkles at all, can be used for a casual night on the town, a trip to the gym, or a local area hike. I highly recommend these shirts.

Great all-around shirt

I bought a couple of these as an outdoor shirt but have since bought many more and you can usually see me wearing one on any given day. I especially like that they feel like broken in cotton and don't have that shiny "hey look at me, I'm an athlete" nylon kind of look. I'm a bartender in a busy bar and since using the Sahara as a work shirt I'm no longer embarrassed by sweat stains when slinging drinks for a big crowd. My work shirts are beginning to split seams after about 2 years of heavy use. I consider this within normal parameters. I wouldn't recommend using fabric softener when washing these shirts, it causes the fabric to pill. REI loses a star for discontinuing my favorite colors, esp. "Tank" and WHITE. Hello, plain white T-shirt?!?

My favorite shirt

recently I've taken to long distance motorcycle touring in the summer. These shirts are the best! They are very breathable and wick well too. When I get to my destination they also double as a comfortable and colorful alternative to a regular white cotton tee. I have one of every color available and often pair them with a complimentary or contrasting colored buttondown shirt for a little more style when traveling. What can I say, they're soft, durable and travel well. I'm wearing one right now.

GREAT shirts

I just got two of these shirts on sale a few days ago but I've already worn them both (one in black and one in a light blue) and LOVE them. At first the fit seems a little weird but I soon realized how comfortable and versatile they are. I've worn them working out and lounging and it excelled in both. The shirt dried extremely fast during/after my workout. They feel like they are quality made and are super soft to the touch. Comfortable, versatile, great-value (especially when on sale).

Super comfy shirt!

I bought this shirt to have as a baselayer while in camp. After the first day wearing it, it instantly became one of my new favourite shirts. I wore it on the hike out and it breathed well and did an excellent job wicking away sweat. After the trip, I now wear around the house and out around town. The material is soft and feels great against the skin. A very nice cut to the shirt, not too tight or overly large. Will definitely be back to pick up more in other colours.

Awesome Shirt

While training for Mt. Whitney, I've been taking my loaded, 35 lb. backpack to the "Stairs" for a great climbing workout. Was wearing my normal cotton t-shirts, leaving completely soaked after each workout. I was so soaked, my girlfriend was grossed out. Got these shirts and after yesterday's workout, I left damp, but no wet spots anywhere, including where the bag made contact. This shirt makes a huge difference. Also not slinky feeling like other polyester shirts.
