Affordable, Useful, Versatile Head or Neck Warmer.
Outstanding product, very useful in the cold, can be used as neck-warmer or head wear.
better than a full-head balaclava
I'm a small person, so the full-head balaclavas don't fit me right - face openings too big and in the wrong place. This mask is better (and less costly). It's easy to pull up and down as needed. It's easy to breathe through it and the velcro fits tightly. I use it when running in temps below 20. One drawback is that when it's super cold, it can ice up and get hard, but it still protects my face. It washes easily and has lasted me several winters of daily wear.
Good idea, poor execution
It sounded like a good idea - wearable as either face protection or a neck warmer, and adjustable with Velcro closures. However, the Velcro strips are too small to adequately adjust it to fit properly. Trying to decide whether to pay to return it, or try to add more Velcro and hope it solves the problem. It also seems like the rolled edge at the bottom makes it a bit rigid, which might be a problem under clothing. Finally, it should have been a bit longer, height-wise.
Great scarf
Great scarf to keep warm snowboarding. Mt Rose and Sierra at tahoe so far
Not the best
I bought this for snowboarding because my regular thin neck gaiter would catch my breath and freeze solid. It's warmer, and because it's fleece it doesn't freeze in my conditions. My complaint is the fit - they say it's designed to fit over your nose (which is why I bought it) but it really doesn't do this well. If I velcro it too loose, it falls down. If I do it too tight, it smashes my nose and is very uncomfortable. I haven't been able to find a happy middle. There isn't any shaping to this to allow room for your nose without squishing it. It also isn't very long, so cold air will still get in between this and your jacket. I mostly bought this because it was the cheaper option and it was fleece. It was fine, but if you plan to use it often or for long periods of time, I recommend choosing something with some shape to it.
Quick and easy to get on or off
I've had several scarves/neckwarmers and they all had to be pulled over my head and . were bulky inside Between hats, glasses, etc. it was sometimes awkward. This just slips in front of your face and neck, fasten the velcro and you're insulated. It does a great job of cutting the wind from sneaking inside your collar. I'm sure I'll be able to put it to a real test during the coming Minnesota winter.
Great alternative to regular scarf
I've had this for several years and used to wear it in the winter just to replace a regular scarf, it is perfect for that. This winter I started using it instead of a balaclava for bicycle commuting when it got cold and it is perfect for it. I am going to buy more to have.
So so - more a case of succumbing to a lower price
There is nothing really wrong with this scarf - it's just not the best-designed of its genre. Frankly, I cheaped out and should have paid for a better-performing, higher-priced scarf. I find the velcro hard to deal with and it's not easy to get on straight.
great w/ a helmet!
Great for riding my motorcycle since I can put on or take off as weather changes WITHOUT having to take off my helmet!
Bad design
The piece works well if you don't want to cover your nose. However, the cut of the piece is such that covering one's nose impinges on the eyes. This pretty obvious flaw of the standard blue surgical masks was translated to this. Bad design, poor quality control by people who evidently don't care, or have eyes that are high above their nose. Disappointing.
