BEST HAT EVER

** This is an update for my past review ** I've owned this hat for awhile now and it's the best hat I've ever owned. My first review stated "a little pricey", I'd like to revise that to ==> "WORTH EVERY PENNNY"..! In HOT weather it keeps my head "cool" and in cold weather it keeps my head "warm". I also find when you need to wash this hat, just rinse it off in the shower, Pat down with a towel and put it on a jar or similar to dry. Mine drys in about an hour or so. Follow Tilley's measuring guide and Order a size larger than you would a regular hat and it should fit great. I sometimes forget I'm wearing it... ...YES, Tilley's are that comfortable.

$100 hat should be better made

Another “Guaranteed for Life” product that isn’t. Me, avid 56 yr old hiker, 4-5 days/week,..two years of use. Bought this hat thinking it would hold up quite a few years. Material on the top of the hat started to fall apart and shred. Always hand rinsed in cold water after sweaty hikes. Hung in garage to dry….I have $20 ball caps that are 5x’s the age in better shape. Warranty is no good, unless you register your hat and create an account with Tilley upon purchase ( per their website)…Been a pretty good hat to wear throughout,…but I likely will be replacing with something else that should hold up better and not cost $100….

A totally boss hat; made for the boss by the boss.

This totally boss hat is just the thing for any out-door adventurer. These hats can stand up against anything; from exploring caves in the Mojave, backpacking along the Olympic Coast, climbing in the Rocky Mountains, circumnavigating (in a kayak) multiple islands in the Salish sea, or building houses for needy families in Mexico, this hat has you covered (literally). Get the hat You won't regret it.

Perfect Hiking Hat

This hat is fantastic! I originally came in to REI to get the Tilley T3 Wanderer, but they didn't have my size. So I tried on the LTM6 Airflo hat and was very impressed with the fit. It's very light and feels extremely comfortable. It's the perfect hiking hat. The fabric on the hat repels water well. I haven't used it on a hot day yet, but I would imagine the sun protection is great. I was concerned that with the hat being so light and the Airflo/mesh feature on top that this hat wouldn't keep my head warm enough on cold days, but it actually works quite well. I was surprised. It keeps my head warm enough, but not too hot- it's the perfect blend. I'm looking forward to keeping this hat for many years with the lifetime guarantee that Tilley offers. Couldn't be happier!

Very popular hat

I have had this hat for about 3 years. It's a good hat. If you hike Half Dome you will probably see a dozen other people wearing one just like it. It is not exactly a warm weather hat and it is not a cold weather hat either, but it does very well at staying on my head when the wind is blowing. If you spend an afternoon on any of the peaks around Lake Tahoe then you will appreciate that. I have watched a few basball caps soar away. A previous review explained that it does not breathe well and the sweat band becomes saturated. That is my experience as well. I gave it four stars because it is a rugged hat and it pretty much does what Tilly says it will do.

Great Hat for all occasions

I have had one of these hats for 5 or 6 years. I use it regularly around the neighborhood but where it really shines is when I travel the world to SCUBA dive. It holds its shape, washes like a dream, folds flat in my luggage, drys fast. I use it as a sun hat, wind hat, umbrella and even when I feel a little chill. I have even snorkeled with it on my head when in an equatorial area with very strong sun. Strong wind can force the flap down over my eyes, but mostly it stays out to prtect my face. When I get home from a long trip I just throw it in the washer and lay it flat to dry. Comes out great. Highly recommended.

Still a very good hat, but…

After a good number of years, had to order a replacement, having forgotten the old one on a train from Florence, Italy. Wanted to replace with what I had because the hat had been great in protecting from the sun and keeping the old noggin cool. The replacement is getting downgraded because the khaki/olive color is NOT what it had been. The image on the websites (including Tilley’s) shows the original color, but, the color of the new hat is actually an olive/khaki (much more green than tan). Disappointing, but I’ll keep it because it has been a great hat overall. Just beware the color shown on the websites may not be the actual color being now provided.

Durable, but not very cool.

I wanted a good quality outdoor hat that was comfortable, not too big of a brim, and was stylish. The price was a little steep for my wallet, but I was tired of having to buy a hat every year that didn’t last. The Tilley didn’t disappoint...well, maybe a little. I have worn this hat during many hikes (500+ miles) over the last several years. It has been washed several times and still holds its shape. It’s warm enough during cooler weather; however, it is not very cool during the hottest part of the summer. I know the green is not the coolest color but wished Tilley would put a larger area of mesh material into the hat for more ventilation. Therefore, only four stars.

Great product as advertised!

This hat was recommended by friends who had them. I liked the way their hats looked on me and I usually don't look good in hats with brims all around. I like the fact the hat comes in specific sizes (I have a big head and got a size 7 5/8. It is made well and is washable and has a life-time guarantee. The air vent is great making my head cooler. I did notice the front of the hat tends to squish my bangs and make them sweaty since it sits lower on my face than most hats, so I either brush my bangs up inside the hat or switch off once in while to one of my baseball hats which do not flatten my bangs but which provide less sun protection.

Incredible hat - abuse it; wash it; like new

I use this as my everyday hat; initially for fly fishing, backpacking & traveling. But, I am a cow veterinarian, so once the newness wore off; it also became my everyday work hat. Often lots of manure and sweat covering the hat so when it's time to head off on a leisure trip, I throw it into the washing machine and then air dry it; comes out looking brand new! Great chin strap, typically I don't use it and just fold it into the top of the hat but on a windy pass it keeps the hat firmly on your head. Great hat in heat or rain. I work in the Central Valley of CA. with summer temperatures often over 100 degrees, the hat has an excellent built in sweat band and is much cooler than most straw hats. Worth every penny.
