Simple to use and effective
I picked up this brush without ever cleaning my chain with anything except paper towels and chain lube previously. I know there are more advanced cleaning systems out there than this brush but it did it's job and it did so well! I have only used it once or twice now but my bike chain was very dirty after riding 150 miles on the GAP where parts of the trail were wet from rain. A lot of rock and debris were pounding my chain during those few days. I used this brush when I got home and it seemed to remove a lot of gunk from my chain and cassettes. I just need to remember that I own this and to use it when my bike needs a scrubbing.
Works great, maybe not necessary though.
The title says it all, as one could just use an old toothbrush but if you like dedicated objects like myself, it’s fantastic! Multiple orientations/ bristle locations for ease of use and awesome :)
Works (mostly) as advertised
This tool has been a great addition to my bike maintenance/cleaning kit. Chain sits easily between the three bunches of bristles, and only a few pedal turns is usually enough to keep everything clean. Especially when used with a mild degreaser, using this weekly on my mountain bike has kept my chain and cassette notably cleaner than if I had just used a rag and soap. The bristles on the end of the handle are a a confusing addition, though. They’re not supportive enough to clean the cassette or chainring in any meaningful way
Works Great
This thing works great! Not sure why it didn't work for one reviewer -- it's just a brush. This is a less-expensive and simpler alternative to a full chain washing system. If you're looking for a deep clean, take the chain off and do it right, but if you're just looking for a quick, effective clean this is perfect. Worked well and got my bike spotless.
Does what it’s designed to do. For a while.
I like the brush but the first one I bought snapped apart at the brush head after a couple of months. Will have to see if this one lasts longer.
I'm Buying a Second One
Great product. Does a quick job for those of us not too compulsive about spotless chains and cassettes. I put my mountain bike on the stand, clip the Grunge Brush on the chain, spin forward, spin backwards, squirt lube, wipe excess off, done. Brush is easy to clean too with household degreaser and hot water.
Darn good.
The chain cleaner gets all the attention, and is quite effective, but what really makes this product are those long bristles on the other end that get into chainrings and derailleurs. Pair it with a freewheel brush, and you've got what you need to clean your mounted drive train between breakdown cleanings. Can't beat it for the price.
Fast
Great for a quick clean after each MTB ride on our sandy trails. Brush, Wipe with Degreaser, Lube, Wipe again, Done. I use the long bristle brush for the jockey wheels.
decent drive train tool
The three angled brushes do a good job of cleaning the chain, and long brush digs out the junk in the cassette that builds up from daily commutes.
scrub - scrub - scrub away your blues
Clean drive lines last longer, with top of the line components it pays to keep them clean and this tool will help in the cleaning.
