Heavy duty
I came across these stakes by accident. I purchased the REI Screenhouse and these stakes where included. when i staked out the screenhouse on a recent camping trip i was impressed by the quality of these stakes and made the comment of i wish had more of these. When i went to REI after the trip to pick up a few things to be preped for my next trip i found them for sale in the store and i imediatly counted out twelve and purchased without a second thought.
Strong and sturdy, but heavy
My boyfriend and I love camping, but we have gone so often that we have needed to replace some of our old stakes for our tent. We bought these because we were looking to get strong, sturdy stakes for when we go car camping, and this have really done the job so nicely! They go into the toughest ground without bending. They are a bit heavy, so if you are looking to buy more stakes to backpack with, these guys are not the right ones for you, but if you love to car camp, and weight isn't an issue, buy these!
strong and durable, works as described
we bought 16 stakes in case we lost some. went camping with them for the first time, in some dry, sandy/dusty sites in colorado and almost lost a couple. more so because our toddler wandered off with them. not to worry, we went home with all 16. pulling them out might be a challenge, but that's not the stake's fault. i used the curved end to pull up some stakes, which was handy. they're sturdy enough to use a heavy rock to pound them into tough soil. we used the blunt end of a hatchet. the first night we spent in a canyon, there were huge gusts of wind that rolled through, shaking the heck out of our tent, but it held up just fine! no stake adjustments needed. thumbs up!
Beefy Stake
Bought half a dozen of these to supplement my collection of stakes for a recent car camping trip. They are solidly built, able to withstand vigorous hammering into the stone dust camp floors we have in Maryland. The tips of these stakes are beveled, helping them go into the ground easily. My son and his friend quickly preferred these over the lightweight aluminum stakes that came with their tent. I wouldn't recommend these for backpacking or for anyone trying to shed equipment weight. A good buy for canopies and tents where a solid anchor is needed.
Heavy Duty Stakes!
I bought 15 of these for my Kingdom 4 + Connect Tech Garage. They work well, you can really hammer them into the ground! They appear as if they will take a lifetime of abuse and work as intended. I have recently bought an REI Tent Stake Bag, and it also works well, holds 15 of these stakes and only uses up about half the room in the bag so one could also put guy lines in it or even sand anchors.
The Best
I've been through plenty of BSA campouts where I spent a lot of time in a frustrated attempt to drive tent stakes into hard ground. This is the only stake that I've found that doesn't bend or break. A backpacker/minimalist camper might not choose this model because it is not lightweight, but if you can afford a few extra ounces, then this is the stake for you.
Heavy-duty steel stake
Great heavy-duty steel stakes for holding down my 10' x 10' canopy 'parasail' tent in windy conditions. ; ) . Now if only REI would make and sell a corresponding heavy-duty tent stakes bag to hold a dozen of them. I got one set of these for myself, and gave away two sets of these stakes as Xmas stocking-stuffers, but couldn't find anything to put them. Felt like half a present, sort of like giving someone a great toy, but sending them off to a store to buy batteries. Problem is, no 'batteries' exist for these heavy-duty stakes.
Heavy Duty Stake
Very tough stake that is perfectly suited for family tents and canopies. I have used this stake all summer for a large family tent and canopy and it hasn't failed me! These stakes penetrate all but the hardest ground without bending or giving up the ghost. You'll need a pretty sturdy device to hammer them into the ground if it is hard.
One modification…
…made this perfect for my go-bag. With an eye to pitching a poncho shelter under unknown conditions, because these are steel (not aluminum) they can be driven into difficult surfaces—especially if the ends are ground to a point. (A drop of hot glue on the points will keep them from poking holes in other things in your bag while awaiting the ‘quake, fire, flood….
Will last forever!!!
I use these stakes to hold shelters and tents. They won't bend even on hard ground. If you are car camping, makes no sense buying those cheap stakes that will only be good for one trip. Buy these and you won't regret.
