Not toilet paper!

READ THE DESCRIPTION BEFORE YOU BUY. This is not toilet paper. It might work in a pinch but don’t count on it as your go to roll. This is made for an outdoor activity other than pooping in the woods. It is sticky, though. So for that I give it a 5.

I recently purchased a new restock of tape, and found that it was not as sticky as the previous years I've purchased. I found out from Metolius that they had to change factories as their previous factory had closed due the pandemic. This new factory tape does not hold up as well to sweat like the previous version and I'm so disappointed. After climbing one route, the tape already starts to pull away from my skin. I reached out to Metolius and they've sent my feedback to R/D, so hopefully if more people provide their opinions on this new version, they can look into improving it.

Take it everywhere.

I found this tape for sore fingers and climbing gyms but have long since adopted it as my go-to tape for everything outdoors related, well, everything under duct-tape level. Tear it down the middle for a more usable finger / toe size strip or keep it full size for wrist wrapping, splint building, even bandage covering. More than anything these days, I use it for hot spots mid-hike until a better adjustment can be made. It sticks like no other can make it through a few showers as well.

Better than skin

I owe this tape my hands. I've used it to literally hold my skin together after some dumb moments climbing outdoors and it did its job well. Also great for tendon support while bouldering. I'm impressed with how well it holds in spite of chalk, sweat, friction, and disinfecting spray for COVID: it stays on better and longer than any other tape I've tried (and doesn't hurt to pull off later). It is definitely too wide, but it's super easy to tear down the middle and just use half of it.

Not as good as it used to be.

I've been using Metolius Climbing Tape for years and would normally give it five stars. However, for this purchase, the tape material is thinner and weaker, and the adhesive is noticeably less sticky. I tape my fingers to support the joints for climbing, and this tape doesn't stay in place as well as it did previously.

Best climbing tape

By far my favorite climbing tape. When it comes to taping worn tendons, splits, flappers, this is the one to go to. I have tried many other tapes and got fed up with them constantly falling off while I climbed either from chalk, sweat or friction. This was remedied when I decided to try out the Metolius climbing tape. It is VERY sticking and takes a little more effort to rip (protip: use your finger nails) but it just has that much more staying power. Now my tape doesn't slip off, especially on split tips, even when cranking on the smallest of crimps

Doesn't sweat off

I actually bought this because I was tired of regular athletic tape sweating off after a mile of hiking. This tape didn't budge after 20 miles on the trail! Sure I think I lost a layer of skin when I pulled it off, but I'll take that over blisters any day!

Best Tape Out There

If this isn't the best darn tape I've ever used. It's bomb proof! Really strong, hardly ever peels when applied correctly. No tape will ever be as grippy as real skin, but this comes pretty close. It's not easy to tear or cut without scissors, but I see that as a good side of it's durability.

Only workable tape known

Crack gloves will last half a season with this tape if done properly and I have yet to read a book that shows how to properly make gloves. The tape is easy to tear while wrapping and is much stickier than other tapes which is essential. Use to improve your crack climbing and can guarantee total finger pulley tendon protection if used correctly.

Not the same tape

This tape should share the reviews of the previous one. It is not as good. I am a heavy tape user and this new one (along with the colored ones) is not as sticky as it used to be. The moment my fingers get a bit sweaty the tape starts sliding off. Makes me re-tape my fingers a couple of time throughout a session
