Rated 1 out of 5 by from Yakima skimped on product I purchased the Q-clips with a full rack set-up for my Honda Fit in the spring. The Q-clips have only a rubberized sticker to protect your car from the metal. First time out with the rack, the stickers slipped and scratched my car. I've since gained scratches on 3/4 door jams. So incredibly irritated with Yakima's decision to go with a STICKER that slips instead of coating the clips with rubber to protect your car. This was a hefty purchase for me, and I can't believe that with all of that money, what I got was new scratches on my car. Rack itself seems sturdy so I don't understand why they couldn't design/manufacture a decent, durable clip to go with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great but expensive I bought a used car and the seller gave me the Yakima rack. I then sold that car kept the rack and bought something different. I was excited at the thought that I would not have to buy another rack. That being said, the existing q towers didn't fit the new car, so off to buy Yakima parts. By the time I got it to fit, I was already $200 in parts, I could have purchased a new rack for $30 dollars more, but my money was dumped down the "rabbit hole"! Sure the parts are of high quality, but you pay a pretty penny for them. My suggestion do your research and don't lose parts or you'll pay dearly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Q Clips for Honda Fit I have used Yakima Q Clips on a number of vehicles during the past 10 years. I recently purchased a Honda Fit and easily transferred my rack to the new car without any issue. As always, the fit and quality of Yakima products is top notch. I was pleased to see that Yakima changed the color of the rubber pads to black because the clear ones get extremely dirty with a few weeks of driving. I really cannot complain about the product because it does its intended job very well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Like the Vinyl Pads I give the clips three stars. Actually , they probably deserve more, as they were the best part of my yakima rack system. However, I disliked the rest of my yakima rack system. See my reviews under Q towers or 58" cross bars. On the positive side. The clips come with little vinyl stickers to keep your car from getting scratched were the clips meet the car. THEY WORK GREAT. Attach the stickers to the clips. However, now that I've taken the rack on/off about 5 times, I do question how much more life these stickers hold. Other parts of the rack system and the kayak rack I purchased have scratched my car elsewhere... but no scratches where the clips connect! On the negative side: Price. Seems like a lot for these little guys, although they are a pretty critical part of the whole system.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Got the jobs done. Overall I like these clips. The install process takes measuring twice...then twice more...but ultimately it's straight forward. The feet don't always sit parallel depending on the shape of the roof. Pay attention to the two horizontal marks on the towers while installing, make sure you are at least past the first one on each side before clamping down.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Yakima Rack -- Q83 clips We have owned the Yakima Q Towers rack system for a long time, and needed these clips to use the Q towers with a more recent car. The clips are fine, but I had a different problem because of the size of the car...I had to modify the Rocketbox because with this car's measurements the bars can only be 24" apart. The Rocketbox from the factory had holes for no less than 30" between bars. We have not taken a trip with the box loaded up yet, but driving around town it seems stable.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from expensive. The money spent for a couple pieces of stamped steel is just ridiculous. half the cost would be more appropriate. The only reason I recommend to a friend would be because they already have the q towers and need to put a rack on a different car.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good fit These fit well, but the rubber feet don't last long if you leave your car parked under the sun for extended periods of time. My first set lasted 3-4 years, plus when the rubber started to deteriorate it left marks on my car finish.

Why do you not carry Q clips newer than 99q. I am looking for Q116 for a Leaf. I would expect REI to be encouraging EVs.

I have a 2002, 2-door Civic. Yakima.com said I need Q115 clips front and rear. In the dropdown menu on the REI site, Q115 is not one of the choices. Which clips should I order? Thanks much!

The Yakima Q Clips that you need can be found under the following item number (662027): http://www.rei.com/product/662027/yakima-q-clips-pair

I have a Yakima Rack that has been mounted on a car out doors for about 5 years, and the white plastic pads are starting to break down. Can I just replace them alone or do I need to buy new towers as well?

Asked by: Amadeus
It is possible to get the parts for your Yakima towers. Yakima offers parts for the majority of their products. We would recommend calling them at (888) 925-4621.

What is the weight limit for the clips?

Asked by: Dewey Fuller
The Q Clips on their own do not have a weight capacity. The weight capacity of your vehicle's roof is the most important measurement to consider.
