Parking Peace of Mind
Not until I installed my own new rack and Jay-Low did I realize during the quick and simple installation how theft-ready my Yakima stuff is! So I bought the 8-lock set at a cheaper rate knowing I'd expand my Yakima use over the next year (2nd Jay-Low). Locks took 15 mins. to install all of them. Keys registered with Yakima. We enjoy our day-long paddling trips all the more with the car parked wherever. Just the right amount of deterrent and loads of peace of mind.
Completely useless!!! They do nothing!!!
You would think this is a way to protect your investment in an overpriced Yakima roof rack, but you'd be wrong. I just had my properly installed and completely locked Yakima rack ($700+!!!) stolen. Google it. It is shockingly common. These locks DO NOTHING. Worst purchase I've ever made. May as well just burn a $100 bill.
how good is a lock when a master key...
...is easily obtained by any crook/thief. BUT, these ARE a deterrent, and for that I give them 4 stars.

Bike rack cable does not instill a warm secure feeling. Seems easy to defeat.
