Meh - Shorter Strap
I love the classic simplicity and easy function of this bag. The only thing that I do not like is the shorter strap. The REI Technical Specs for this item shows the strap length as 15" expanding to 50". I purchased two Mantis 1 and one Mantis 2. All three strap lengths were much shorter than the 50" indicated. My first Mantis 1 was 46" (actually perfect for me), the second Mantis 1 was 43" (returned/too short) and the Mantis 2 was 43" (kept b/c I love this size compartment). I saw a few comments made by Arc'teryx to their customers at the Arc'teryx website informing the customers that the strap length is in fact 110cm = 43". I contacted REI with this information but apparently they have not verified with Arc'teryx and have not, as of yet, corrected the tech specs for these bags. My guess is they shortened their strap to be in the trend for people who like to wear waist packs crossbody higher up.

Good little bag. simple
Im just putting this here to filter with the 2 star review that SteelersFan left to say that there's no way that the strap is too short for a person that is actually using this bag to hike with or be even remotely active. Never met a steelers fan that was in healthy shape.

LOVE this bag!

I love these bags so much I have three of them. 😆 They’re the perfect size and hold much more than you’d think - most likely due to that smart pocket for your phone that’s on the outside of the bag (and holds my iPhone 14 Pro Max in a case easily). Great to pack for travel for a daily carry purse and they take up no room in a suitcase. I use mine as a crossbody - it wears comfortably and sits in just the right spot. Fabric is sturdy but lightweight and looks great for many occasions - I’ve worn it walking my dog, on a day hike, and carried it out to dinner for casual nights out. Overall I’d give it 10/10 (if I could!) without hesitation.

Great Bag - you won’t be disapointed!

Recently bought this colour for my wife & at the same time purchase alternative colour for myself. Great bag that holds a good amount of items and has a good selection of zip storage areas including an inner zip storage area with a key leash. The idea of adding a mobile phone storage area on the rear padded section is excellent & is really useful to keep your phone safely stored but close to hand. My wife also thought the bag was great, stored everything she needed it to and was very comfortable to use and wear. This bag has great padding on the side close to your body with a material that allows some breathability. The bag is also sold at a great price point and offers excellent value for money. Colour options are also very good. If you buy this bag for everyday compact, light carry you won’t be disappointed!

Great bag!

This a great bag.i just took it to europe with me and it really worked well. I like the deepness of it and the best part is the outside pocket that fits my iphone perfect and really easy to get at. I liked the bag so much that I bought my daughter one too. I didn't give it 5 stars because of the strap which I feel it could be a little wider and a softer material. All in and all, it's fantastic.

Love it!

Love this! It’s my new favorite travel purse. Holds a fair amount with several pockets, and I love the slit on the back for my phone. I agree with other reviewers that the main zipper is a bit sticky, but the strap length was great for me. Highly recommend!

New design, shorter straps!

The straps are shorter than the previous design. My long torso cannot with these short straps! Will return!

Hello there, thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear the updated strap length didn’t work for your frame. The Mantis 2 was redesigned with a more streamlined profile, but we understand that shorter straps can be limiting, especially for those with longer torsos. Your input is incredibly valuable and helps us consider a wider range of body types in future designs. We appreciate you giving it a try, and hope you’ll find a better fit in our lineup.
