Sizing Notes

Salewa footwear fits true to size and runs from medium to slightly narrow in width. For Mountaineering boots, Salewa recommends sizing up one half size to ensure comfort on long descents.

Salewa’s Alpine Fit incorporates a unique climbing lacing system that offers a large range of adjustability. To ensure a proper fit, Salewa recommends opening all laces through the forefoot as wide as possible before adjusting to your comfort, starting at the toes.

Poor QA. Fell apart.

These delaminated within the first mile I used them.

Salewa "approach shoe" failure to meet expectation

Unlike other leather Salewa, these light wt models stretched out after 2 long off trail compass hikes which included sidehills. Stitching started to fail after two hikes. Reguired water saturation and drying in sun to shrink back to size and after each of next two trips. But.... good traction on slab but no good for any edging. REIvery understanding and accepted return after use for only one month.

Invest in a better shoe.

I do not recommend these shoes. The front is peeling off after 100 miles. The sides have torn (near the ankles). They are comfy, but falling apart. they are also extremely hot and not breathable.

comfortable

Purchased these for a hiking trip to the Swiss Alps... these are very comfortable, with no aftermarket insole, and did not require any break-in period. However, due to the rugged terrain, I wish I had purchased a shoe with a little more stiffness in the sole for this particular trip. You can feel sharp rocks and roots through the sole. Otherwise, for day hikes on non-technical terrain, these are an excellent choice.

They run small. Order at least a half size bigger

This shoe just arrived in the mail. I haven’t had a chance to wear them on a hike, but I can tell you they run smell. I ordered a US size 12 and I need all bigger size. I ordered another pair a half size bigger, but also thinking I could probably go with a 13 to accommodate swelling. I have a narrow foot with a high arch and the toe box feels tight. So if you have a wide foot you might need to go a full size up. They look pretty darn cool.

My feet still hurt.

I bought these because I needed something for very lite hiking/long walks, something besides my medium and heavy weight hiking boots. These seemed good and were on sale. So far, they wore on my heals when worn without socks ( I thought they were lite enough that it would be ok) and yesterday during a 6 mile walk on rail-to-trails paths (all paved) my feet got really tired and achy. This was the first long walk I have used them on. Some of this can be excused by just not wearing them in yet. Later in the day I was walking through a field and stepped on a small "stump" hidden in the fallen leaves, and twisted one foot pretty badly. I'm not sure if I expected some more support than that or not. The laces could be a little longer for easier tying. So I don't really know yet. I will give them some more tries.

Didn't fit my feet!

These fit at least a half size small. After wearing them around the house for several days, I wore them on a walk (on dry pavement) around my neighborhood. The right shoe caused the worst heel blister that I've had in years. I will return them today!

Great comfortable hiking shoe

Very comfortable from the moment I started wearing these. Glad I tried them out. I had some Salewa's in the past as well and am always satisfied with their products. Thanks Salewa!
