Good rain hat
I have this hat and camp, travel, and kayak with it and it has never failed to keep my head dry. It rolls up for storing, has a chin strap that keeps it on in wind, the brim keeps rain off my face and glasses, and it fits under a rain jacket hood. It’s washable. Not a high fashion look (it’s a bucket hat). I would likely buy another one if this one gets lost.
A Love Letter to Staying Dry in a Rainy Place
Living in the Pacific Northwest means developing a close, lifelong relationship with rain. It’s not “if,” it’s when, and usually the answer is “now.” My husband and I finally decided to stop pretending our old ball caps could fend off the drizzle and invested in two of these Sunday Afternoons Ultra Storm Bucket Hats in the color Mineral. Let me tell you they’ve become our new favorite dog-walking companions (second only to the dogs). These hats laugh in the face of sideways rain, shrug off mist, and somehow make you look like you’ve got your life together even when your raincoat is covered in muddy paw prints. They’re actually waterproof not “resists light moisture” waterproof and the recycled fabric gives a quiet satisfaction that we’re helping the planet we’re perpetually getting rained on by. The fit is secure but comfy, even when the wind decides to test your resolve. We’ve walked miles of soggy trails, watched countless puddles form, and through it all, our heads have stayed blissfully dry. The mineral color looks great on both of us a perfect match for gray skies and green forests. If you live somewhere where “partly cloudy” means “brace yourself,” this hat is a small but mighty piece of sanity. We bought two, and honestly, I’d buy them again tomorrow though I doubt we’ll need to. These things are built for the long haul… or at least the next 10 months of rain.
